Mitsubishi Electric ATW Booster Unit - PWFY-P100VM-E1-BU

Product Overview

The ATW Booster Unit, model PWFY-P100VM-E1-BU, is designed to leverage the heat recovery operation of the CITY MULTI R2 system. It efficiently converts energy from the air to generate higher temperature hot water with minimal energy waste. This unit is ideal for applications requiring sanitary water and showers.

Key Features:

System Outline and Operation

The booster unit connects to a BC controller via refrigerant pipes and to a water tank via water pipes. During cooling operations, waste heat is captured and utilized for heating water.

Refrigerant Flow:

  1. High-pressure R410A gas refrigerant from the BC controller enters the Booster Unit.
  2. Inside the unit, R134a refrigerant circulates through two plate heat exchangers. Low-pressure R134a liquid refrigerant is compressed by the internal compressor, increasing its temperature and pressure.
  3. Water entering the Booster Unit exchanges heat with the high-pressure R134a gas refrigerant, becoming hot water that circulates to heat the water in the tank.

Case Study: Restaurant in Italy

A restaurant required air conditioning, fresh air, and sanitary hot water. The proposed solution utilized the Air to Water system combined with CITY MULTI and an OA processing unit. This system provided hot water without a boiler and efficient air conditioning with a high COP, along with quality ventilation and energy savings.

Unit Configuration:

Application Examples

ATW systems are chosen for their versatility across various applications:

Restaurants

Reason for ATW: Constant hot water requirement in kitchens. Waste heat from kitchens can be used for cooling dining areas in summer, increasing system efficiency.

Health Clubs

Reason for ATW: Gym spaces require year-round cooling. Swimming pools and shower rooms necessitate hot water availability.

Offices

Reason for ATW: Accommodates diverse tenant needs for cooling, heating, and hot water throughout the year. Waste heat from cooling operations in areas with high computer density can be repurposed for hot water in small kitchens during winter. In summer, cooling can be provided to all areas while hot water is available.

Residences

Reason for ATW: Continuous hot water supply for showers and kitchens year-round. Can also be used for underfloor heating in winter and cooling in summer.
