Product Overview
The 12 gauge LBC Sabot Slug, featuring an integrated gas seal and sabot collar, combines the established accuracy of rifled shotgun slugs with the impact energy of traditional slugs. This allows slug shooters to custom manufacture powerful, big-game class ammunition with rifled sabot accuracy.
Engineered for in-flight stability and maximum impact, the LBC Sabot Slug utilizes a hardened .620" diameter lead slug encased in a two-piece, fall-away sabot. The uncompressed outside diameter of the sabot is specified at .725” for modern rifled barrels.
The sabot's exterior is etched with distinctive bore rings, creating a more efficient seal and reducing bore contact and friction. Above the gas seal are crush-sections designed to absorb the abrupt energy of setback, resulting in a stabilized projectile, higher velocity, greater shot-to-shot consistency, and lower pressures.

Loading Tips
Carefully insert the entire slug/sabot ensemble into the hull. Only gentle wad pressure is necessary. Use a pad (a nitro card wad or something similar) between your rammer tube and the top of the slug to help prevent damage to the tip of the slug.
Spire tip slugs placed within a tube magazine (e.g., pump or automatic shotguns) must not have any protrusions from the crimp. If the tip of a protruding slug could impact the primer of the shell in front of it, this could be dangerous. A pointed slug should be covered with a cardboard or plastic overshot card. Fold crimping is also a viable solution. If the hand-loader fails to heed this instruction, only one slug at a time should be placed in a tube magazine.
Data contained herein supersedes all previous data.
Using GAEP Roll Crimpers: Our GAEP line of roll crimpers work effectively with slug loads. Simply place an overshot card on top of your slug and secure it in a hull vise or case block before lowering your drill press onto the mouth of the hull. The GAEP series of crimpers are designed to work most efficiently at 900 RPMs or more. The GAEP Deep-Neck Roll Crimper is specifically designed for slugs.

Close-up image of the GAEP Deep-Neck Roll Crimper. Image of a finished LBC Sabot Slug load in a shotgun hull, ready for crimping. Note that the finished LBC Sabot Slug load should not show any hint of the spire tip protruding above the top of the hull. A protruding slug can potentially impact the primer of the shell in front of it in tube-type magazines, creating a dangerous situation. Exercise caution when loading the LBC Sabot Slug to avoid this scenario. The use of cardboard or plastic overshot cards over the tip of the slug is strongly encouraged to provide a nice, level platform to crimp against and remove the possibility of incidental contact between the sabot tip and primer.
