Product Overview

Chainway SR160 is a powerful UHF Scanner that supports both UHF RFID and 2D scanning. Adopting self-developed UHF RFID modules based on the latest Impinj E310 chip and offering excellent single-tag read/write performance, SR160 can read various electronic tags on the market fast and accurately with a maximum reading range of more than 30cm. The scanner also supports high-performance barcode scanning which can scan barcodes in all conditions, no matter whether they are scratched, dirty, damaged, poorly printed or displayed on the screen. SR160 can be widely used in retail chains, inventory management, warehouse logistics, manufacturing, and other application scenarios.

Appearance

The SR160 features a handheld design with a pistol grip. It is primarily black with yellow accents on the grip and scanner head. The device includes a trigger and a cable for connection.

Device Connection

The SR160 can be connected to a PC using its provided cable. PC and software management is facilitated through the UHFAPP.exe executable file, as depicted in a file explorer window showing related program files.

Operation

The SR160 is a scanning gun device with RFID functionality. Its working principle involves directly outputting scanned data to the cursor position. When an application is open and the cursor is active, the identified data can be output through the scanner.

Functions

Working Modes

The SR160 scanning gun offers three working modes:

  1. RFID mode: Enables only the RFID function. RFID reading data takes precedence. To switch to RFID mode, use the yellow switch button on the back of the device. The RFID mode light will be on, and the BARCODE mode light will be off. Successful reading is indicated by the corresponding RFID top indicator being on.
  2. Barcode mode: Enables only the barcode function, with barcode reading data taking precedence. To switch to BARCODE mode, use the yellow switch button on the back of the device. The BARCODE mode light will be on, and the RFID mode light will be off. Successful reading is indicated by the corresponding BARCODE top indicator being on.
  3. Barcode RFID hybrid mode: Allows scanning of both UHF tags and barcodes simultaneously. The data obtained first is considered the final data. To switch to dual mode, use the yellow switch button on the back of the device. The BARCODE mode light will be on, and the RFID mode light will also be on.

Parameter Setup

To set up the SR160 scanner, connect it to a computer via its cable. Open the Windows connection program, UHFAPP. Select USB as the communication mode and click the "Open" button to establish a connection.

Power Settings: Select a power setting between 5-25 dBm. Click the "Set" button to confirm the setting. The "Get" button retrieves the power setting currently configured on the module. Selecting "Save" stores the setting into the module, which will take effect automatically on the next startup.

Region Settings: The software allows selection of the operating region, with options such as USA, China1, China2, Europe, Korea, and Japan. This setting is crucial for compliance with regional radio frequency regulations.

Buzzer Settings: The buzzer can be turned on or off. When enabled, the device emits a prompt tone when reading tags. When disabled, no prompt tone is produced. Settings can be adjusted using "get" and "set" buttons.

User Settings: This section allows for special customization functions, which are not detailed in this manual.

Others

To view device information, click the "UHF information" button in the main menu to read the hardware and firmware version numbers. To check the module's temperature, click the "Temperature" button in the main menu.
