Important: Disconnecting Existing Equipment
If you are setting up your Verizon router and Fios TV equipment for the first time, it is crucial to disconnect any current internet and TV equipment you may have.
Disconnect Current Internet Equipment:
- Router(s)
- Wi-Fi extender(s) (if included in your current setup)
- Any other internet equipment
Disconnect Current TV Equipment:
- Set-top boxes
- Digital adapters (if included in your setup)
After disconnecting, proceed to Step 1. If you are keeping an existing Verizon router, skip to Step 2.
Step 1: Router Setup
Follow the setup instructions on the following pages for your router.
Verizon Router (CR1000)
Fios Router (G3100)
Fios Quantum Gateway (G1100)
Step 1A: Connect Your Cables
A. Coax Cable Connection: Connect the coax cable from your router's coax port to a coax outlet. This connection is required for Fios TV service.
B. Ethernet Cable Connection (for speeds > 100 Mbps): If you ordered internet speeds greater than 100 Mbps, connect an Ethernet cable from your router's WAN port to an Ethernet outlet.
C. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to your router and then plug it into an electrical outlet.
D. Router Update: Your router will take up to 15 minutes to update completely. Proceed to the next step when the front light(s) are solid white.

Step 1B: Wired or Wi-Fi? Your Choice
Wi-Fi Setup:
- Locate the Wi-Fi name and password on the label affixed to your router.
- On your device, select your Wi-Fi name when it appears in the available networks list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password exactly as it is printed on your router label.
Wi-Fi Network Features:
Your router supports Self-Organizing Network (SON) technology, which allows your devices to seamlessly switch between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi signals, connecting to the closest access point for an optimized connection.
- 2.4 GHz: Offers a greater range and is compatible with most printers and smartphones.
- 5 GHz: Provides faster speeds, ideal for streaming HD video and gaming.
- Some devices can only connect to the 2.4 GHz band.
- Newer devices can connect to both bands, but only one at a time.
Wired Setup:
- Connect an Ethernet cable from any LAN port on your router to your computer.
Step 1C: Complete Activation
Activate your service by opening a web browser on your computer and following the on-screen prompts.
