Honeywell Home T3/T3R Programmable Thermostat

This document provides a quick start guide for the Honeywell Home T3 and T3R programmable thermostats, covering basic operation, scheduling, and installation.

1. Screen and Button Overview

The thermostat features a clear display and intuitive buttons for operation. Key elements include:

  • Display Area: Shows current temperature, set temperature, time, mode, and status icons.
  • Buttons:
    • Left Button [15]: Used for navigation and selection.
    • Middle Button [14]: Used for confirmation and primary actions.
    • Right Button [13]: Used for navigation and selection.
    • Menu Buttons [1, 2, 3]: Access Programming, Settings, and Holiday menus respectively.
  • Status Icons:
    • [4] Alert: Indicates an issue or warning.
    • [5] Room Temperature: Displays the current ambient temperature.
    • [6] Current Time: Shows the current time.
    • [7] Heat Demand: Indicates when the heating system is active.
    • [8] Optimisation: Shows when the thermostat is optimizing heating cycles.
    • [9] Low Battery: Alerts when the battery is low (typically 10% power remaining).
    • [10] Wireless Signal (T3R only): Indicates the strength of the wireless connection.
    • [11] Keypad Lock: Shows when the keypad is locked to prevent accidental changes.

2. Default Schedule

The thermostat comes with a pre-set schedule for energy efficiency. This schedule can be customized.

  • Monday - Friday (Mo-Fr):
    • P1: 06:30 - 21°C
    • P2: 08:00 - 16°C
    • P3: 12:00 - 21°C
    • P4: 14:00 - 16°C
    • P5: 18:00 - 21°C
    • P6: 22:30 - 16°C
  • Saturday - Sunday (Sa-Su):
    • P1: 06:30 - 21°C
    • P2: 09:00 - 18°C
    • P3: 12:00 - 21°C
    • P4: 14:00 - 18°C
    • P5: 18:00 - 21°C
    • P6: 23:00 - 16°C

3. Adjusting the Schedule

You can customize the heating schedule to suit your needs.

  1. Select Day: Use the navigation buttons to select the day you wish to adjust, then confirm.
  2. Copy Day: To copy a day's schedule to other days, select the source day, then select 'COPY'. Choose the 'TO' day and confirm.
  3. Select Period: Choose the specific time period (P1-P6) within a day that you want to modify.
  4. Adjust Time/Temperature: Use the buttons to set the desired time and temperature for the selected period, then confirm.
  5. Delete Period: To remove a programmed period, select it and follow the prompts to delete.

4. Device Modes

The thermostat offers several operating modes:

  • AUTO: Follows the programmed schedule.
  • MAN (Manual): Maintains a single, manually set temperature until changed.
  • OFF: Turns the heating system off.

5. Temperature Override

You can temporarily adjust the temperature away from the programmed schedule.

  • Temporary Override: Set a new temperature, and it will be maintained until the next scheduled period begins.
  • One-Hour Override: Press the [+1h] button to temporarily raise the temperature for one hour.
  • Permanent Override: Set a new temperature that will remain active until manually changed back.

6. Holiday Mode

Set the thermostat to maintain a specific temperature for an extended period, ideal for vacations.

  1. Press the 'MENU' button.
  2. Select 'HOLIDAY' or 'AWAY' mode.
  3. Set the number of 'DAYS' for the holiday.
  4. Set the desired 'TEMP' (temperature) for the holiday period.
  5. Confirm the settings. The thermostat will maintain this temperature until the set number of days has passed.

7. Date and Time Settings

Ensure accurate timekeeping for proper scheduling.

  1. Press the 'MENU' button.
  2. Select 'SETTINGS' and confirm.
  3. Select 'DATE' or 'TIME' options.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the Year, Month, Day, Hour, and Minute using the navigation and confirmation buttons.

8. Keypad Lock

To prevent accidental changes, you can lock the keypad.

  • Lock: Hold the Left button for 3 seconds to lock the keypad. The lock icon [11] will appear.
  • Unlock: Hold the Left button for 3 seconds again to unlock the keypad.

9. Troubleshooting

Common indicators and issues:

  • [9] Low Battery: Indicates the batteries need replacing soon.
  • [9] Battery Critical Low: Indicates the batteries are critically low and need immediate replacement.
  • [4] Faulty Sensor: May indicate a problem with the thermostat's internal sensor.
  • [10] Wireless Signal Loss (T3R only): Indicates a loss of connection between the thermostat and the relay box.

10. Installation

Installation should be performed by a competent person. Ensure mains power is switched OFF before wiring.

Relay Box Wiring

The relay box connects the thermostat to your heating system. Wiring configurations vary based on the boiler type:

  • Basic Boiler: Connects to standard boiler terminals (e.g., T1, T2).
  • Combi Boiler: Connects to specific combi boiler terminals.
  • 2-Port Zone Valve: Connects to zone valve terminals (e.g., A, B).

Ensure wires are securely fastened and insulated to prevent short circuits. Use cable ties for single-core cables.

Thermostat Installation

Mount the thermostat on a wall, typically 1.2-1.5 meters from the floor, in a location away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

11. Parameters (Advanced Settings)

These settings allow for advanced configuration of the thermostat's behavior.
