The Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle is an accessory for RV Entry Doors with existing door handle on the left hand side looking from the outside. The Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle cannot be installed on doors with a handle/locking mechanism on the right hand side.
NOTE: Do NOT install the Keyless LatchXtend RV Door Handle on a glass door unless the door has been prepped for LatchXtend by the manufacturer.
Introduction
The Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle extends the target for operating the paddle latch by 14″. It creates considerable leverage for actuating the paddle latch and makes opening the door easier without an entry step in place.

Remove Existing Lock Assembly NOTE: Depending on task, secure door as needed for installation convenience and safety.
1. Secure the door to keep it from moving while installing.
2. Remove old lock from door.
NOTE: It may be necessary to consult existing door lock production information for removal instructions.
3. Remove the existing Latch Plate from the door.
NOTE: The Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle comes with an optional Strike Plate. · If installing Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle into a
door with existing Strike Plate, it is not recommended to use the new Strike Plate and remove the existing one unless so desired.
4. Clean out the bore of all dirt, loose material, burrs, etc.
1. Find cardboard template (Fig. 1A) and plastic installation guide tray (Fig. 1B) provided and cut out as directed.

Optional Install for Glass Door Prepped If the door is glass and prepped by the manufacturer to accept the LatchXtend, remove the cover plates and proceed to the Pre-Installation Setup section. LatchXtend may NOT be installed on glass doors that have not been prepped.

New Bores (Two Holes) The bottom of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle requires additional bores to accommodate the Anchor Plate assembly with Pivot. The recommended procedure is to use the paper template to measure down and appropriately space new bores.

3. Secure the cardboard template (Fig. 3A) into place by inserting plastic installation guide tray (Fig. 3B) into the cardboard template and bore.
4. Press the template flat down on the face of the door ensuring the template lays completely flat.
5. Use a non-permanent marking device to mark the center points of the two new bores (Fig. 3C).
6. Remove and retain plastic installation guide tray and template until installation is complete.
7. Drill out two 1 1/8″ bores using the template (Fig. 4A).

Pre-Installation Setup 1. Lay out Entry Door Extended Bar Latch assembly on a work cloth to prevent cosmetic damage during procedure. 2. Remove six fastener screws from the back of the locking mechanism and anchor plate and retain for the installation.

Installation
Install Front of the Assembly into Entry Door
NOTE: The Front of the Locking Mechanism and the front of the Anchor Plate with Pivot are one assembly connected by the Extension Bar. This will need to be on the outside of the RV Unit Door to be used as intended.
3. Allow the locking mechanism (Fig. 9A) and deadbolt (Fig. 9B) to swing through the Latch Plate to provide extra support, and also ensure Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle will operate successfully.
1. Install the front of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door
Handle (Fig. 7A) assembly into the top original bore (Fig. 7B)
and the new bottoms bores (Fig. 7C).

Fig.7 2. Replace the Latch Plate (Fig. 8A) and fastener screws (Fig. 8B) back to their original place. Hand tighten fastener screws to secure Latch Plate and draw the front of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle assembly into place.

3. Install the back of the locking mechanism (Fig. 12A) from 6. Loosely install hardware to secure into place (Fig. 14). the inside of unit into the original bore (Fig. 12B).

7. Make sure the front and the back top and bottom assemblies (the Locking Mechanism and the Anchor Plate) meet together completely and seal around the bores in the door.

5. Test deadbolt to make sure it will completely swing in and out of the Latch Plate now that the front and the back of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle are together.
NOTE: Leave in the locked position with the deadbolt extended out of the locking mechanism and door for the installation procedure.

9. Tighten hardware on the back side of the Anchor Plate (Fig. 16A).

Install Strike Plate (Optional) If the Strike Plate was removed and the new Strike Plate is desired or necessary for installation, install the new Strike Plate (Fig. 18A) using existing screws (Fig. 18B).

NOTE: Make sure there are no visible gaps around the bore at the top or the bottom of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle on the inside or outside of door.
10. Tighten fastener screws (Fig. 17A) on Latch Plate (Fig. 17B).

Operation
The Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle is an extension of the door latch handle. From the outside of the unit, the door can be opened by pulling anywhere on the door latch handle or the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle.

EXCESSIVE FORCE IS NOT NECESSARY AND IS NOT ADVISABLE TO OPERATE THE LATCHXTEND. DO NOT PULL WITH ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT OR PULL HANDLE FOR LONG PERIODS AS THIS COULD DAMAGE THE LIPPERT LATCHXTEND RV DOOR HANDLE OR CAUSE THE LATCH AND THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN UNINTENTIONALLY CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURY.

Opening the Door, Exterior to Interior 1. With the door in the closed position and unlocked, pull on the door latch handle (Fig. 19A) or anywhere on the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle (Fig. 19B).
2. The door will release from frame and come towards the user while opening.

Opening the Door, Interior to Exterior 1. Make sure the door frame is clear of obstructions that could prevent it from opening. 2. If necessary, turn the deadbolt knob (Fig. 20A) to the right to unlock. 3. Pull paddle latch handle (Fig. 20B) to release the door from the frame. 4. When outside of the door, push the door closed and lock as desired.
DOORS MOVING OUTWARD ON HINGE CAN SWING OPEN WHEN CAUGHT BY ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS OR WHEN EXCESSIVE FORCE IS USED. DAMAGE TO DOOR, UNIT EXTERIOR, OR PERSONAL INJURY CAN OCCUR.

Locking at Paddle Handle Locking the paddle handle (Fig. 21A) will only lock the paddle handle on the outside of the unit and Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle assembly. This is to prevent other people from pulling the paddle handle. This will not prevent the door from opening from the inside.
A. To lock, insert key into keyhole (Fig. 21B) and turn key to lock.
B. To unlock, insert key into keyhole (Fig. 21B) and turn key to unlock.

Locking at Deadbolt The deadbolt (Fig. 22A) will lock the door and prevent it from opening and closing from the exterior and interior.
A. To lock, insert key into keyhole (Fig. 21C) and turn key to lock. B. To unlock, insert key into keyhole (Fig. 21C) and turn key to unlock.
The deadbolt can be locked and unlocked by turning the deadbolt knob on the inside of the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle assembly.
· Turning the deadbolt to the left locks the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle.
· Turning the deadbolt to the right unlocks the Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle.

Maintenance
Cleaning · Clean with gentle detergent/soap to prevent dirt that
could cause potential obstructions, damage, or early wear and aging. · Wipe away dirt and obstructions so the handle can move freely.
NOTE: Be cautious and do not directly aim power washer or high pressure cleaner at Lippert LatchXtend RV Door Handle when washing unit to prevent unnecessary damage or leakage.
