How to add an App to your VIZIO Smart TV

To access applications on your SmartCast TV, press the input button and choose the ‘SmartCast’ input. Or press the V key or Home key near the center of your remote. Currently all availableapplications are displayed in the app row of SmartCast Home.

If the application you’re looking for doesn’t appear on the TV’s app list, you can use the Televisions  built-in Google ChromeCast feature. Chromecast gives you the ability to cast thousands of your favorite applications to your TV from your computer, smartphone, or tablet.

How to Cast to your VIZIO SmartCast Device

How do I cast an application?

  1. Open the application and press the Cast icon.

  1. Press the icon and select the device you wish to cast to. If you have multiple VIZIO SmartCast products or other Chromecast devices in your home the TV will see multiple options. Select the device you wish to connect to.
  2.  Once you’ve selected the SmartCast device or Chromecast device simply begin playing the content and it should begin playing on the selected device.

I can’t get this application to cast to my VIZIO SmartCast device.

  1. Make sure the SmartCast Device and your tablet or smart phone are connected to the same network. For SmartCast to work the VIZIO SmartCast Home Theater Display, VIZIO SmartCast HDTV, or your VIZIO SmartCast Audio product and the control device (phone, tablet, or computer) must be connected to the same home network. For example, if your SmartCast Home Theater Display or SmartCast HDTV are connected to your home Wi-Fi Network and your phone is connected to 4G (but not Wi-fi), the phone will be unable to cast to the TV. If you turned on the phone’s Wi-Fi and connected it to your home network, the phone would then be able to send content to your SmartCast device.
  2. Make sure the application you are trying to cast from is up-to-date. For Android Devices: open the Google Play Store and open the menu. Click on the option for “My Apps & Games”. Search this screen for the app in question; if it states “Update” next to the application, you’ll need to select the app and update it. For iOS Devices Open the App Store on the device and click on “Updates” in the lower right corner. This will open the updates and show any apps on your device that have a pending update.
  3. If the application still won’t cast, try rebooting both devices. To do this: power off the SmartCast Display or Sound Bar and control device (phone, tablet, or computer) and then power each back on.
  4. Power cycle the network. To do this: unplug the power cord from your router for 5-10 seconds, then reconnect the power. After this is complete wait 1-2 minutes for the router to power back up, and then try casting the application again.
  5. If the application doesn’t cast, try casting a second application. If another app is casting, the SmartCast Display, the wireless network, and the control device (tablet, phone, or computer) are working. At this point, it is likely an issue with the app itself. Contact the app developer for additional troubleshooting.
  6. Try casting from another device (tablet, phone, computer, etc.). If other devices are capable of casting to the SmartCast Display, it may be an issue with the control device. Consult the device manufacturer for further troubleshooting.

SmartCast Televisions also have AirPlay 2 capabilities and many applications allow you to AirPlay content from your iOS device to your VIZIO SmartCast TV. For information on how to use the AirPlay 2 feature See Video.
