Setup

Battery Installation

The Tamagotchi Original requires one CR2032 battery. If the battery is not pre-installed or needs replacement, locate the battery compartment on the back of the device. Use a small screwdriver to open the compartment, insert the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up, and secure the cover.

Initial Setup and Hatching

Upon first activation or after battery replacement, an egg will appear on the screen. Press the 'A' button (left button) to select, 'B' button (middle button) to confirm, and 'C' button (right button) to cancel or return. Use the buttons to set the current time. Once the time is set, the egg will hatch into your new Tamagotchi character.

Operating Your Tamagotchi

Your Tamagotchi requires consistent care to grow into a healthy adult. The device features three buttons (A, B, C) for interaction, typically located at the bottom of the unit.

Basic Care Functions

• Feed: Select the fork and knife icon to feed your Tamagotchi. Choose between a meal or a snack.
• Lights: Select the light bulb icon to turn lights on or off. Turn lights off when your Tamagotchi sleeps.
• Play: Select the ball icon to play a game with your Tamagotchi. The "Character game" requires you to guess which way the Tamagotchi will move next.
• Medicine: Select the syringe icon if your Tamagotchi becomes sick. Administer medicine to help it recover.
• Bathroom: Select the toilet icon to clean up after your Tamagotchi uses the bathroom.
• Health: Select the heart icon to check your Tamagotchi's health status, including hunger, happiness, and discipline levels.
• Discipline: Select the angry face icon to discipline your Tamagotchi if it calls for attention when it doesn't need anything (e.g., full, happy, clean).

Growth and Evolution

Your Tamagotchi will evolve through different stages: egg, child, and adult. The type of adult character it becomes is determined by how well you care for it and your performance in the games. There are 7 different adult characters you can raise.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your Tamagotchi device, gently wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these may damage the device.

Battery Replacement

When the screen dims or the device becomes unresponsive, it may be time to replace the CR2032 battery. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the "Setup" section. Ensure proper disposal of used batteries according to local regulations.

Troubleshooting

• Device Unresponsive: Check battery level. Replace the CR2032 battery if necessary.
• Screen is Blank: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge.
