VSD M18 Stream Dock Upgrade Instructions
Hello everyone, based on customer feedback, we have recently optimized the relevant functions of VSD M18. Now, we will provide the latest version of VSD Craft software and the corresponding firmware (device) upgrade tool. Interested users may refer to this instruction to upgrade your M18 device.
Kindly Note: 1. The current upgrade tool only runs on Windows PCs. 2. A beta version of the upgrade tool with Mac support is expected to be released by the end of August. 3. For existing Mac users needing to upgrade M18 RGB, you can first upgrade the VSD M18 using a Windows PC. Then, update to the latest Mac Beta Version of VSD Craft, and you will gain access to the RGB customization feature.

Upgrade Highlights:

shuts down or “VSD Craft” software closes.
For Problem 1 and 2, refer to the solutions below: switch to using the computer’s USB 3.0 port, replace a USB 3.0 data cable, or upgrade the VSD M18 device.
RGB Post-Upgrade Behavior:
1). No “VSD Craft” Software Running: Plugging in via USB-C triggers default RGB color cycling (100% screen/RGB brightness).
2). “VSD Craft” Software Active: Screen brightness, RGB brightness, and mode sync with “VSD Craft” settings. 3). PC power off or “VSD Craft” Software Closed: M18 Screen and RGB lights power off automatically (need to check the “LED Sleep Follow” option).

We recommend that before upgrade the “VSD Craft” Software, you first export and save the previously configured scene files (“VSD Craft” >> “Settings” >> “Scenes” >> select the scenes you need to export, hold down the Ctrl key to multi-select >> click the bottom export icon “Export Selected/All Scenarios”). 2). Upgrade Process: Requires simultaneous software/firmware update (Completed within 2-3 minutes). 3). During Upgrade: Keep device and USB-C cable stable, ensure consistent power. 4). Failed Upgrade: Re-plug the cable and try again. 5). Warranty Coverage: Free replacement if device is damaged during upgrade.

Color Accuracy: Potential discrepancy between palette display and actual RGB output. – If the fixed colors provided by the color palette do not match your color requirements, please use the custom color mixing mode to configure your RGB colors. 2). Sync Behavior: Custom colors apply only after clicking “Confirm” (not real-time). 3). M18 Light Leakage: After upgrading the M18, light leakage occurs in the lower-left light when the screen is on (RGB lights off). This stems from a structural design issue with no temporary solution, and we have instructed the factory to implement improvements in new productions.

Upgrade Operation Steps

Go to the “release” folder >>
Scroll to the bottom, about a dozen lines from the end, and find the upgrade tool “UpDateToolV3” >>
Click to open it, verify the matching items: “Connection Mode: HID”, “Device Detected”, and “Device Model: VSD_M18” >>
If the matching is correct, click “Start” to proceed with the upgrade. (Important reminder: The upgrade process takes approximately 1-2 minutes. Do not move or touch the device or the USB-C data cable midway.) >>
After the upgrade is complete, close the upgrade tool directly.
After the upgrade is completed, the software version is 3.10.194.0717, and the firmware version is V3.VSDM18.02.014.
RGB Light Setting Steps:
Open the “VSD Craft” software >> select “Settings” in the upper-left corner >> select “Device” >> 1. LED Strip: Manually adjust the LED brightness. 2. RGB: Click to enter the RGB custom color palette.
3. “Restore Default”: Click to resume the previous automatic color-changing state of the RGB light.
4. “LED Sleep Follow”: Enables the RGB light to turn off when the computer goes to sleep or shuts down.
5-6. Custom RGB color settings: Note that when adjusting colors, the VSD M18 device will not sync in real time. The device will update the color only after clicking Confirm. Meanwhile, there may be a color discrepancy between the device’s RGB light and the palette, which we will optimize in future updates.
Upgraded VSD M18 RGB on Mac:
If you have already completed the firmware upgrade of VSD M18 on a Windows computer but need to use it on a Mac, please download and install the latest beta version of Mac VSD Craft.
Mac M18 RGB Upgrade Process: 1. Log in to the VSDinside website’s download page: https://www.vsdinside.com/pages/download 2. Use a Windows computer to download the latest version of VSD Craft (Figure 3) and connect the VSD M18 device normally. 2. Download the upgrade operation document (Figure 1) and the firmware upgrade tool (Figure
2). 4. Refer to the upgrade PDF document to perform a firmware upgrade on the VSD M18. 5. After the upgrade is completed, switch the VSD M18 from the Windows computer to the Mac. 6. Download and install the latest beta version of VSD Craft on the Mac (Figure 4), and you will get the RGB customization options.
