Incorrect installation might cause personal injury or property damage. Contact eRapta customer service for assistance if needed.

NOTE: Handle all components with care. Inspect regularly to avoid damage to components and cabling.

NOTE: Do not apply excessive force to any of the components contained within this kit. Otherwise, it might result in damaged or non-functional parts.

  • Do not disassemble or attempt to repair any part of the camera system.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • To avoid an electrical shock hazard, relevant actions should be performed by qualified and certified professionals. Disconnect all sources of power to the camera before installing.
  • To reduce the risk of fire, do not smoke while working. Do not use a flame.
  • Use this product within the voltage range specified. Failure to do so can cause electronic shock or product malfunction.
  • Where the power cable may press a metal case, cover the cable with friction tape. A short circuit or disconnected wire may cause a fire.

4. System Installation

  • Ensure the power supply circuit has circuit protection.
  • Use insulated tools when working with power supply.
  • Use correct safety equipment when working at elevated levels.
  • Please test the product before installation to see if it works properly. If the product works properly after inspection, please install it. If not, please contact eRapta promptly to return it.

4.1 Installation Diagram

The camera is powered by the reversing light. It connects to the power cable through the 4-pin connector, and then connects to your screen through the RCA extension cable connector.

Visual Description: A schematic illustration of a car showing the wiring path for the backup camera system. It depicts the camera connecting via a 4-pin connector to a power cable, which then connects to an RCA extension cable. This extension cable links to the monitor. The power cable also shows connections to the car's reverse light (positive power) and ground (negative power).

4.2 Installation of the Camera

4.2.1 Take off your rear license plate.

Using a screwdriver, remove each of the screws holding your rear license plate in place. Then, pull the plate off and set it aside.

NOTE: Make sure you place the screws in a safe place so you don't lose them.

Visual Description: A graphic illustrating a license plate area on a car, with a screwdriver and a drill bit, indicating where to make a hole for the camera cable. The eRapta logo is visible.

4.2.2 Drill a small hole in the license plate mounting area

Drill a small hole in the license plate mounting area so you can run the cable into the trunk. Hold your camera up to the area you intend to mount it to figure out where to make the hole and mark the fixed position and note the spot where its splitting cord sits. Then, create a small hole in the car using a power drill. Line up your hole so it is directly behind where your camera's power cable will go.

NOTE: The hole doesn't have to be very big, just large enough for the cable (approximately a 1/8 or 1/4 inch hole).

NOTE: Ensure that there are no obstructions between the license plate mount and the rear wiring chamber and you're not drilling into anything you shouldn't be.

NOTE: If you come across any obstructions, try to remove them. If you can't, see if you can make a hole nearby.

4.2.3 Run the camera cable from outside of the car into the trunk of your car.

4.3 Wire Connection

Visual Description: A close-up view of two connectors: one is a 4-pin female connector with an arrow indicating insertion direction, and the other is a 4-pin male connector.

  1. Plug the 4-pin cable of the camera cable into the 4-pin connector of the power cable. Use the arrows to align.
  2. Connect the red thin wire to your reversing light (positive power) and the black thin wire to a metal or ground wire (negative power).

NOTE: The power supply for the camera must come from the reversing lights. The power source can also be from a constant 12V power source, but the camera will always be on.

  3. Connect the RCA port of the power cable to the RCA extension cable. Then, run the wire in the car along the existing backbone harness, running the extension cable.
  4. Connect the yellow RCA port of the extension cable to your monitor. (If your RCA port is already connected, the red trigger wire can be ignored. If you do not want to connect the yellow RCA port, you can energize the red trigger wire to the monitor).
  5. Test: When the car is in reverse, the reverse lights should turn on (you may need your key on for this). The power from the reverse lights will power up the camera and should trigger the monitor to display. If the monitor does not automatically switch to the display, you will need to adjust a setting in the menu. Look for "camera input" or "reversing" or "video input" in the menus.

4.4 Other Descriptions

4.4.1 The function of the Camera Wire

  • Cut the white wire to disable the parking guide lines (default is with guide lines).
  • Cut the green wire to switch the image to facing front view (default is mirror rear view).

NOTE: If you cut the camera cable, you need to disconnect the power of the camera and reconnect it for the function to be displayed.

4.4.2 Small Bracket

If you want to use the small bracket to install, you can use a screwdriver to remove the large bracket, replace it with the small bracket, and then install it in the location you want. This may require drilling.

4.4.3 Additional Notes

  • Please connect the wires tightly.
  • If the camera is connected to the fuse box, pay attention to the loss of power in the vehicle battery; a prolonged loss of power will affect the start of the vehicle.
  • If the voltage is too high, long-term operation will lead to damage to the camera.
  • The camera is CVBS; please check if your head unit is compatible with CVBS.
  • If you don't need the guide lines, you can cut the white wire/loop. If you still need to use it after cutting it off, please reattach it.

5. Troubleshooting

Q: How should the product be installed?

A: Connect the red wire of the power cord to the positive power source of the reversing light and the black wire of the power cord to the ground or negative power source. Here is the video of our product installation: Installation Video

Q: Why is the product no signal?

A:

  • Try connecting the black wire of the power cable to the negative power of the reversing light rather than the ground cable.
  • Check if the yellow RCA cable connecting the camera and monitor is tight, and turn the yellow RCA cable to see if the screen shows an image.
  • Check the car backup lights and make sure they can power the camera. Then run a second power line from your red wire in your dash to power the camera.
  • Check if the LED light brightens up when you are reversing. If not, there is something wrong with the cable. Please contact after-sales service for a replacement.

Q: What should I do if the camera has water ingress and fogging?

A: This can be caused by a difference in high & low temperature. Just wait a few hours, and it will return to normal. Otherwise, there is a temperature difference.

Q: What should I do if there is a mirror reversal?

A: Cut the green line; the mirror function will disappear, and it will become a normal image. At this time, it can be used as a front camera.

Q: How can I cancel the reversing line?

A: Just cut the small white line of the camera; the reverse line disappears.

Q: If the screen appears uneven color, black screen, or other problems?

A: Ensure the screen is used normally with a voltage of 12-24V. If there is still a problem when working, please contact us promptly for a free replacement camera.

Q: If there is a problem of damaged or missing accessories?

A: This is an accident. Please contact us for a free replacement.

Q: There is no screen to confirm the reverse car image.

A: We are selling a separate camera that does not include a screen. That's OK; contact us, and we will send one to you.

Q: Can the after-sales service support multiple times?

A: Sure, if you choose eRapta, we are passionate about providing solutions to your shopping experience, no matter what the problem is.
