Permobil OMNI2 Infrared (IR) Quick Start Guide

Activating IR Mode

This section guides you through activating the Infrared (IR) mode on your Permobil OMNI2 system.

  1. Power on your wheelchair. Press the "Settings" button (typically a blue button located in the upper right corner) to access the Settings Menu.
  2. Use the navigation buttons on the OMNI2 to scroll down to the "IR Setup" option. Press the right navigation button to select it.
  3. Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the list of devices you wish to control (e.g., TV, Cable/Satellite, DVD).
  4. Press the right navigation button to enter the selected device for training commands.

Using IR with Input Device

This section explains how to navigate and select devices using the OMNI2 input device.

  1. Enter "IR Mode" via the User Menu.
  2. Use the Forward/Reverse input device controls to select the desired device if more than one device is programmed.
  3. Use the Left/Right input device controls to enter the selected device (e.g., TV, Cable/Satellite).
  4. Use the Left/Right controls to activate the selected command.

Training Device Commands to Chair

This section details how to teach the OMNI2 to recognize commands from your remote controls.

  1. Select the command you want to learn (e.g., On/Off, Channel Up, Volume Up) by scrolling up or down using the navigation buttons. Once the desired command is highlighted, press the right navigation button to select it.
  2. Press the right navigation button again to select "Learn Code".
  3. Point your remote control at the OMNI2 IR Receiver and press the desired command button on the remote twice to train the command.
  4. A green check mark will appear on the screen to confirm that the command has been successfully trained.
  5. Repeat the above steps to train additional commands.
  6. After all desired commands are trained, exit the IR programming menu. Scroll to "Exit" using the navigation buttons and select it with the right navigation button. You will be prompted to power the chair on and off twice.

NOTE: PC programming via the IR Configuration tool can be used to set up and customize IR Mode. The IR Configuration tool may not be compatible with all OMNI2 models.
*There is variability in remote compatibility with Infrared; some remotes and/or specific remote commands operate via Bluetooth™.
