HYDROSTATIC CLUTCH MAINTENANCE

For Tractor models 660, 770/779, 780 & 889 with PowerSafe® clutch and Hydrostatic Drive

Maintenance Schedule

After the first 30 hours of use:

  • Replace the external filter (B) with OEM filter (p/n 580C0268).
  • Check the fluid level using the gearbox dipstick (A), top off if necessary.

Weekly:

  • Check the fluid level using the gearbox dipstick (A), top off if necessary.

Every 100 hours of use or once per year (whichever occurs first):

  • Remove magnetic cap (C) and drain fluid.
  • Replace the external filter (B) with OEM filter (p/n 580C0268).
  • Clean and reinstall magnetic cap (C).
  • Refill with a compatible engine oil listed below until the dipstick (A) measures the appropriate level.

Compatible Fluid Specification Options for Hydrostatic PowerSafe® models:

  • SAE 15-40 Engine Oil
  • ACEA A3-08/B3-08
  • API SL/CF
  • API EC I
  • VW 500/505.00

Component Identification

The following components are referenced in the maintenance procedures:

  • A: Dip Stick
  • B: Filter
  • C: Magnetic Cap (located on valve body opposite spin-on filter)
