AdVSET (Advanced Settings)
- Auto Off: Automatically powers off the MND after a set time with no button presses. Minimum time is 15 seconds. To disable, set to 65535 (default). Cannot be set lower than the relay "On Time" setting.
- DECPL (Decimal Place): Defines the decimal point position in the reading. APG sensors can set decimal places before sending to MND.
- MASK (Digit Mask): Masks the least significant digit(s) (up to 3 places), displaying them as '0'.
- SHIFT (Digit Shift): Shifts the reading to the right by dividing by 10, 100, or 1000.
- MLTPLR (Multiplier): Applies a conversion multiplier to sensor readings. For example, a multiplier of 2.0 doubles the reading. APG sensors can also apply multipliers before sending data.
- BAR 0% & BAR 100%: Define the readings for 0% and 100% on the display bar graph. Bars update in 10% increments. Bar graph limits apply to all sensors when multiple are displayed.
- OVERLOAD: Sets an overload warning if the reading exceeds a specified value. This setting applies to all sensors simultaneously. Default is 99999.
- BATEN (Battery Enabled): Selects battery monitoring option: No Battery, Internal Battery, or RST Battery. Internal battery indicator is limited to voltages less than 15 Vdc.
- BATFUL (Battery Full Voltage): Sets the voltage for a full battery indication.
- BATLOW (Battery Low Voltage): Sets the voltage for a low battery indication.
OUTPUT (Outputs)
The MND offers optional outputs: solid-state relays, 4-20 mA, or 0-3 Vdc analog signals. Not all output options apply to all MND configurations. The Sensor Address setting determines which sensor controls the output(s).
- AL SET (Analog Low Set-point): Sets the reading for the low analog value (4mA or 0V).
- AH SET (Analog High Set-point): Sets the reading for the high analog value (20mA or 3V).
- ALCAL (Analog Low Calibration): Adjusts the low end of the analog output. Increasing/decreasing the value adjusts the low end.
- AHCAL (Analog High Calibration): Adjusts the high end of the analog output. Increasing/decreasing the value adjusts the high end.
- T1TYPE & T2TYPE (Trip 1&2 Type): Determines the functional logic of the relay outputs based on Trip Type descriptions (pages 14-16). MND Telecom Relays are rated for a maximum switched load of 5 Amps at 240 VAC or 220 VDC.
- T1READ & T2READ (Trip 1&2 Reading): Defines the display reading that corresponds to a change in the relay output state, based on the selected Trip Type.
- T1 WIN & T2 WIN (Trip 1&2 Window): Defines the secondary value (from the Trip Reading) for Exclusive, Inclusive, and Hysteresis Trip Types.
Trip Type Descriptions
NEAR: Output activates when reading is less than Trip Reading.
EXCLUSIVE: Output activates when reading is less than Trip Reading OR greater than Trip Reading + Trip Window.
HYSTERESIS NEAR: Output activates until reading is greater than Trip Reading + Trip Window, then deactivates when reading is less than Trip Reading.
FAR: Output activates when reading is greater than Trip Reading.
HYSTERESIS FAR: Output activates when reading increases beyond Trip Reading + Trip Window, remains active until reading falls below Trip Reading, and remains deactivated until reading is again greater than Trip Reading + Trip Window.
ON: Holds the output closed whenever the display is powered.
OFF: Disables the output.
Note: For Normally Closed relays, ON is Open; for Normally Open relays, ON is Closed.
- LOFRST (LOE/RST): Output follows the state of a corresponding LOE or RST sensor acting as the master device.
- TIME R (Timed Interval): Sets output activation on a timed interval. Interval Time (INTMIN) is time between activations (minutes), and On-Time (ON SEC) is duration of activation (seconds). When used with Auto-Off, MND wakes at each interval and stays powered for the On-Time duration.
- TEMP (Heater Temperature): LCD heater controlled by Trip Relay 1. Set "on" temperature using Trip 1 Reading (TIREAD) in °C. Trip 1 Window (T1 WIN) sets "off" temperature based on degrees above "on" temperature.
Switchable Power Source Output Option
This option allows an internal battery-powered MND to share its battery power (via relay T1) with APG Modbus sensors (MNU, MPX, PT series) for a monitoring system. Pressing the power button wakes the system, polls the sensor, and re-enters sleep mode.
Relay T1, set to Timed Relay mode, controls sensor voltage. Setting Interval Time to 0 forces T1 active immediately upon waking. APG recommends an On Time of 8-10 seconds for sensor power-up and reading. Auto-Off determines how long the MND remains powered before re-entering sleep mode.
Recommended APG Settings:
- Output Menu (OUTPUT): Trip 1 Type (T1TYPE) = Timed Relay (TIME R)
- Interval in minutes (INTMIN) = 0
- On Time in seconds (ON SEC) = 8-10
- Advanced Menu (AdVSET): Auto-Off = 15 seconds
WARNING! The Switchable Power option sources battery voltage directly to the output line when the display is powered "on". Care must be taken not to short this voltage to other output lines (DC common or communication lines).
*This option requires special factory hardware configuration and is not a standard MND feature.
COMM (Communications)
- Baud Rate: 2400, 9600, 19200, 38400
- Parity: even, odd, none
- Stop Bit: 1, 2
- Note: APG Modbus sensors use 9600 baud, no parity, and 1 stop bit.
- C-TYPE (Communications Type):
- MASTER: MND operates as the master device.
- SNIFER (Sniffer): MND passively monitors communications between a master and sensors. Master must poll sensors for MND to update readings.
- LRSNIF (LOE/RST Sniffer): Functions like Sniffer mode but also monitors LOE or RST-5000 Ethernet sensors.
- SETUP: MND acts as a "slave" device for programming via APG Modbus software. Sensor Address (SENADR) is used as the MND's address in Setup mode.
- SENADR (Sensor Address): Sets the address for single sensor monitoring and the MND's own address in Setup mode. For multiple sensors, addresses must start at 1 and increment sequentially.
- NUMSEN (Number of Sensors): Sets the number of sensors to monitor.
- REGNUM (Register Number): Sets the register number to display. APG sensor readings are stored in register 30303. Enter the last 3 digits (e.g., 303 for 30303).
- FUNCTN (Function): Sets the function code for the register (3 = holding register, 4 = input register).
- REGTYPE (Register Type): Sets the bit type of the register. Options include signed/unsigned 8, 16, and 32-bit values. APG sensor readings are unsigned 32-bit.
- SCANRT (Scan Rate): Determines how often the MND polls the sensor(s) in seconds when in Master mode.
Write Function
Allows the MND (in Master mode) to write a value to a specific holding register of a sensor. Steps involve setting Sensor Address, Register Number, Register Type, and Register Value, then confirming the write.
Example: Changing Empty Distance (register 40407) to 2150 for sensor address 5.
- Sensor Address: 05
- Register Number: 407
- Register Type: U16 (unsigned 16-bit)
- Register Value: 02150
- Write Yes/No: Yes (Enter)
Address Change (ADRCHG)
Allows quick changing of a sensor's address when MND is Master. Enter current address, then the new address.
Communications Setup Examples
APG sensor readings are stored in register 303 (unsigned 32-bit).
- MND master, single sensor (address 1): C-Type = Master, Number of Sensors = 1, Sensor Address = 1, Register Number = 303, Function = 4, Register Type = U32.
- MND master, multiple sensors (addresses 1-6), outputs keyed to Sensor 3: C-Type = Master, Number of Sensors = 6, Sensor Address = 3, Register Number = 303, Function = 4, Register Type = U32.
- MND in Sniffer mode, single sensor (address 3): C-Type = Sniffer, Number of Sensors = 1, Sensor Address = 3, Register Number = 303, Function = 4, Register Type = U32.
- MND, 2 sensors + LOE ultrasonic: C-Type = LOE/RST Sniffer (LRSNIF), Number of Sensors = 2 (LOE sensor not counted), Sensor Address = n/a, Register Number = 303, Function = 4, Register Type = U32.
SENLAB (Sensor Labels)
Allows assigning a custom label for each sensor (up to 10 sensors + LOE/RST master). The label appears on the display, alternating with the Unit of measure.
Note: Setting a Mode Access Password (page 8). If a label is assigned for Sensor 10, it becomes the password. Default label '10AAAA' requires no password.
PCTFUL (Percent Full)
Displays sensor readings as a percentage of full, based on a user-defined 100% value. To enable, select PCTFU in the main menu, choose the sensor, and enter the 100% value. 0% (empty) is assumed to be 0. Setting value to 00000 (default) disables the feature.
Note: 'PCTFUL' label displays as the unit of measure for sensors in Percent Full mode. Output settings must be based on underlying readings, not the displayed percentage.
*bLIGHT (Back Light) *Optional Feature
Mode options: On, Off, 30 Sec, 1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min, 16 min. Adjust backlight intensity by selecting brightness (ORTHES) and using up/down arrow buttons.
