6 CONTROLLER PANEL AND OPERATION
6.1 CONTROLLER PANEL
Fig.1 HMC4000RM Front Panel Description:
The front panel features an LCD display and several pushbuttons:
- Alarm Indicator: Indicates alarm status.
- Genset Status Indicator: Indicates the operational status of the genset.
- Stop Button: Red button labeled 'Stop' (Chinese: 停机).
- Start Button: Green button labeled 'Start' (Chinese: 起动).
- Dimmer + Button: Labeled 'Dimmer +' (Chinese: 亮度加) for increasing LCD brightness.
- Dimmer - Button: Labeled 'Dimmer -' (Chinese: 亮度减) for decreasing LCD brightness.
- Lamp Test Button: Labeled 'Lamp Test' (Chinese: 试灯).
- Set/Confirm Button: Used for setting and confirmation.
- Up/Increase Button: Arrow pointing up.
- Down/Decrease Button: Arrow pointing down.
Indicator Light Explanation:
- Alarm Indicators: Slowly flash for warning alarms; fast flash for shutdown alarms; off when no alarms.
- Status Indicators: Off when genset is standby; flash once per second during start up or shut down; always on during normal running.
6.2 REMOTE START/STOP OPERATION
6.2.1 ILLUSTRATION
By pressing a button on the host controller HMC4000, users can enter remote control mode to remotely control the HMC4000RM start/stop operation.
6.2.2 REMOTE START SEQUENCE
- When a remote start command is active, the “Start Delay” timer is initiated and its countdown is displayed on the LCD.
- When the start delay is over, the preheat relay energizes (if configured), and “preheat delay XX s” information is displayed on the LCD.
- After this delay, the Fuel Relay energizes, followed one second later by the Start Relay engagement. The genset is cranked for a pre-set time. If the genset fails to fire during this attempt, the fuel relay and start relay disengage for a pre-set rest period, initiating “crank rest time” before the next crank attempt.
- If the start sequence continues beyond the set number of attempts, it terminates, and a “Fail to Start” fault alarm is displayed on the LCD.
- Upon a successful crank attempt, the “Safety On” timer activates. Once this delay expires, the “start idle” delay is initiated (if configured).
- After the start idle, the controller enters the “Warning Up” delay (if configured).
- After the “Warning Up” delay expires, the generator enters Normal Running status directly.
6.2.3 REMOTE STOP SEQUENCE
- When a remote stop command is active, the controller starts a high-speed “Cooling” delay (if configured).
- Once the “Cooling” delay expires, “Stop Idle” is initiated. During “Stop Idle” Delay (if configured), the idle relay is energized.
- Once “Stop Idle” expires, the “ETS Solenoid Hold” begins, determining if the stop is complete. The ETS relay energizes while the fuel relay de-energizes.
- Once “ETS Solenoid Hold” expires, the “Wait for Stop Delay” begins, and complete stop is detected automatically.
- The generator enters standby mode after its complete stop. Otherwise, a “fail to stop” alarm is initiated and displayed on the LCD. If the generator stops successfully after a “fail to stop” alarm, it enters standby status.

Fig.3 HMC4000RM Typical Application Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates a typical application where the HMC4000RM controller is connected to a power supply (represented by a battery symbol with B+ and B- terminals) and a host controller (HMC4000MPU) via RS485 communication.
10 INSTALLATION
10.1 FIXING CLIPS
The controller features a panel built-in design and is fixed by clips during installation:
- Withdraw the fixing clip screw (turn anticlockwise) until it reaches the proper position.
- Pull the fixing clip backwards (towards the back of the module) ensuring two clips are inside their allotted slots.
- Turn the fixing clip screws clockwise until they are fixed on the panel.
NOTE: Care should be taken not to over-tighten the screws of the fixing clips.
