1. Assembling Cover
Preparation
Apply the provided long weather seal foam strip (SP-BC0003) across the entire top width of the front bed panel railing.
Apply the provided side weather seal foam strips (SP-BC0010) over the small indentations along both side bed panel railings near the cab end.
Installation
Place the cover assembly on the front truck bed rail against the cab.
Loosen the screws in the bulkhead assembly on both sides, then slide in the side rails.
Reinstall and tighten screws to attach side rails to the cover assembly.
❗ WARNING
Lift tarp while inserting side rail to prevent tearing.
2. Positioning Side Rails and Clamps
First, remove clamp assemblies from the package. Disassemble the upper clamp from the lower clamp.
Hook the upper clamp into the inner channel of the tonneau cover side rails.
Latch the lower clamp into the bed railing lip and reattach it to the upper clamp with the nut and bolt. Use the diagram to help approximate the position of clamps.
Clamp Placement Guidelines
- Ensure clamps are placed in the 'Inside Channel' of the bed rail. [✔️ Inside Channel]
- Do not place clamps 'Out of Channel'. [❌ Out of Channel]
❗ WARNING
DO NOT over-tighten the clamps.
⚠️ ATTENTION
Clamps must be attached securely to the metal part of the truck bed rail lips. Small holes might need to be cut on the bed liner to access the bed liner channel.
The base of the front cover assembly must be aligned flush against the outer edge of the front bed panel railing.
The inner portions of bed cover side rails will taper off towards the tailgate end and partially hover over the side panel railings into the cargo space in order for the rear clamps to access the rail channel.
The cover side rails may not seem parallel with the bed panel railings, but both side rails must be symmetrically spaced between each other, and their tailgate ends must be aligned for proper latching.
3. Rolling Down the Cover
Unlock the safety straps.
Make sure the ends of the crossbar are resting on the side rails and the direction of the crossbar is arched upward.
❗ WARNING
DO NOT OFFSET THE CROSSBAR OFF THE SIDE RAILS!
Horizontal crossbars are arched by default to help with water drainage. Make sure the arched side is up during installation. Incorrect positioning of the crossbar will cause water to pool.
4. Latching the Cover
Push down on the end of the cover to close.
The cover must be latched down prior to closing the tailgate.
You should hear a clicking sound when closing the cover to indicate it is properly latching down.
❗ WARNING
Latch head that is out of position can cause damage to the channel.
- Ensure latch is 'In Channel' [✔️ In Channel]
- Do not leave latch 'NOT In Channel' [❌ NOT In Channel]
NOTE: For latching issues, refer to Page 7 for troubleshooting instructions.
5. Finish the Installation
Gently pull on both sides of the cover and press along the edges to secure the velcro.
⚠️ ATTENTION
Upon completing installation, open the tailgate and examine the seams from the inside to detect any leaking daylight. Apply additional sealing foam strips in those areas to mitigate leakage.
6. Unlatching the Cover
Push down on the end of the cover, then pull on either side of the latch cable to unlatch the cover.
7. Rolling Up the Cover
Ensure the cover is free of any debris before rolling up the cover.
The safety straps must be secured before driving after you have rolled up the cover.
Maintenance and Care
- Do not overload cargo. [? Overload Cargo]
- Remove snow before rolling up cover. [❄️ Remove Snow]
- Secure all clamps before driving. [✔️ Secure Clamps]
- Use water and soap to clean; avoid abrasive chemical cleaners. [? Clean with Soap & Water]
NOTE: The cover may not completely cover to the outside edge of the bed rails due to slight differences in truck bed shape for different year models.
8. The Tension Control System
Depending on the weather condition, it may be necessary to adjust the tension control system. To adjust, loosen the Phillips screws on the tension plate, then the tension plate can be slid back and forth.
NOTE: Only move one increment at a time. Make the same adjustment to both tension plates.
❗ WARNING
DO NOT ADJUST TENSION PLATE BEYOND THE LAST INCREMENT LINE.
9. Troubleshooting: Cover Doesn't Stay Latched?
Make sure the locking clip (SP-BC1012C) on both sides is completely inserted into the channel on the side rails to avoid the cover becoming unlatched.
Potential Issues and Solutions
- If the cover doesn't stay closed, you may find the locking clip is not fully inserted.
- Try moving the tension plate towards the tailgate on both sides, one increment at a time.
- Ensure the locking clip on both sides is inserted into the channel on the side rails.
