Wiring: Roof Drill Solution
The steps below (1–18) are intended for customers installing the roof pod wiring by drilling through the roof. If you are using the A-pillar wire concealer, please refer to the next wiring section (page 7).
Step 1: Disconnect Battery
Disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal and rest it on a cloth or other insulator.
Step 2: Remove A-Pillar Grab Handle
Remove the left-hand A-pillar grab handle, which is secured by 2x 7mm bolts.
Step 3: Remove A-Pillar Trim
Remove the left-hand A-pillar trim panel.
Step 4: Unplug Tweeter
Unplug the tweeter if the vehicle is equipped with Harmon/Kardon or Bang & Olufsen audio systems.
Step 5: Remove Sun Visor
Remove the left-hand sun visor. Ensure the light connector is unplugged without damaging the visor or connector. This is secured by 2x T20 screws on the visor hinge and 1x T20 screw in the clip.
Step 6: Release Roof Console
Using a trim tool, release the central roof console.
Step 7: Remove Roof Console
Release the electrical connections and remove the roof console completely out of the way.
Step 8: Remove Headlining Screws
Remove the 2x T20 screws that hold the vehicle headlining to the roof.
Step 9: Remove Sill Cover
Remove the left-hand sill cover to gain access.
Step 10: Mount Relay Holder
Mount the relay holder in a suitable location within the engine bay. Then, clip the relay base into the holder.
Step 11: Connect Relay Leads
Connect the positive and negative leads from the relay.
Step 12: Discard Harness Connector
Remove the connector from the supplied Lazer harness and discard it.
Step 13: Pass Wires Through Firewall
Pass the positive, negative, and trigger wires through the firewall into the vehicle's interior. Ford/VW vehicles often provide an accessory port in the grommet for such applications.
Step 14: Route Wires
With the wire inside, route it up the A-pillar and along the roof to the roof console opening. Secure it to existing wiring using cable ties where possible.
Step 15: Mark Drilling Location
Tape up the roof area where drilling will occur. Use the ADAS camera as your center point, positioning the tape 85mm back from the front of the roof.
Step 16: Drill and Debur Roof
Drill through the roof using a ½ inch drill bit and debur the edges. Ensure any interior/exterior components that might collect swarf are covered.
Step 17: Apply Grease to Grommet
Apply supplied grease to the roof hole and the rubber grommet.
Step 18: Fit Grommet and Pass Wires
Fit the grommet to the roof, ensuring the roof skin is fully engaged in the ridge all around the inside to create a complete seal. Using a 3mm drill bit or similar, break the seal in the grommet to allow the lamp wires to be passed through. Using cloths to protect the roof and pod, start to pass the pod wires through the roof grommet. Use leftover grease to lubricate and help seal against water ingress. This will be a very tight fit.
Wiring: No-Drill Solution
The steps below (1–12) are intended for customers installing the roof pod wiring by using the A-pillar wire concealer.
Step 1: Disconnect Battery
Disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal and rest it on a cloth or other insulator.
Step 2: Mount Relay Holder
Mount the relay holder in a suitable location within the engine bay. Then, clip the relay base into the holder.
Step 3: Pass Wiring from Engine Bay
Pass the lamp wiring out of the engine bay via a gap between the scuttle panel and the windscreen.
Step 4: Route Wire to Roof
Run the wire up the windscreen and halfway across the roof. Cut the wire to this length.
Step 5: Place Wire Hider
Place the rubber wire hider on the windscreen and trim it to the correct length.
Step 6: Prepare Windscreen for Bonding
Prepare the windscreen for bonding using one of the supplied 3M wipes.
Step 7: Stick Down Rubber Trim
Remove the red backing to stick down the rubber trim.
Step 8: Create Notch for Cable
Place the roof pod on something solid. Use a file to create a notch in the side to allow the cable to pass underneath.
Step 9: Strip Wires
Strip back the wires on the pod and the vehicle side wiring loom.
Step 10: Crimp Wires
Crimp together the wires from the pod to the vehicle side harness.
Step 11: Seal Crimps
This connection is in a wet area, so it is important to seal the crimps with a heat gun or gas soldering iron to prevent water ingress.
Step 12: Secure Loom
Secure the loom within the pod.
Pod Installation
Step 1: Clean Roof and Apply Guides
Clean the roof with the supplied 3M cleaning wipes and apply the positioning guides to the roof. (Note: Final production versions may differ from the image).
Step 2: Clean Pod and Apply Glue
Clean the pod with the supplied 3M cleaning wipes and apply glue to the pod in the 4 glue channels. Note: Please check the use-by date on the glue before application.
Step 3: Remove VHB Tape Backing
Remove the red backing from the pre-applied VHB tape.
Step 4: Position Pod and Route Cable
With help from another person, place the pod on the roof in the area indicated by the positioning guides. You may also need a third person to pull the cable through the roof grommet from the inside.
Step 5: Press Down and Secure Pod
Press down on the pod in the 4 areas where VHB tape was applied to ensure it grabs. Applying weights or tape while the adhesive sets will help achieve the best bond.
Important Final Step
Keep the vehicle parked for a minimum of 24 hours after installation, so the pods have time to bond securely to the roof. ⚠️
