External Doors: General Characteristics
Glazing Bars
Glazing bars (labeled 'd') are manufactured from a durable, UV stable, and weather-resistant wood plastic composite material. They are slightly recessed within the door thickness.
Inside Face Detail
Our exterior doors may showcase a groove, depending on the exact door thickness, where the rails and stiles meet on the inside face of the door sections. This groove is stylish and consistent, enhancing the overall aesthetic without compromising the design.
Timber Species
All doors are constructed from Red Grandis engineered timber. Rails utilize DKD construction, while stiles use the more expensive "Antibend" material. The timber is light in colour.
Offerings
Doors are supplied on their own, with a frame, or as a multipoint locking door set.
Machining and Finishing
All doors and frames are machined using Austrian-designed Felder CNC machines with Leitz precision tooling. After construction, all doors and frames are sanded using a furniture-grade Felder sander with digital control.
Sizing
All sizes are nominal ± 2mm.

Glass Standards and Safety
Glass supplied with our External Heritage & Traditional doors conforms to British Standard BS EN 12150/1.
Double Glazing: The toughened double glazing is 14mm thick for both 45mm and 57mm doors.
Safety Glass: Each pane of safety glass has a safety stamp etched within it, complying with safety building regulations. The style and positioning of this etching vary by manufacturer. Annealed glass will not have a safety stamp.
Characteristics of Toughened Glass:
- Fragmentation: Should the glass break, it fragments into small pieces with dulled edges, greatly reducing the risk of injury.
- Increased resistance to mechanical stresses: Offers impact resistance and bending strength up to five times more than annealed glass of the same thickness.
- Increased resistance to thermal stresses: Offers greater resistance to thermal stresses than ordinary float annealed glass.
Glass Types Available
The following glass options are available:
- CLEAR: Standard transparent glass.
- STIPPOLYTE: A textured, obscure glass.
- MINSTER: A textured, obscure glass.
- CONTORA: A textured, obscure glass (available at an extra cost).
