2.9-inch E-Paper E-Ink Display Module for Raspberry Pi Pico

User Manual

Advantages Of E-Ink

The E-paper display utilizes microcapsule electrophoretic technology for displaying. The principle is: charged particles suspended in clear fluid move to the sides of microcapsules when an electric field is applied, making the microcapsule visible by reflecting ambient light, similar to traditional printed paper.

E-paper displays clearly show images and text under lamplight or natural light, requiring no backlight. They feature a nearly 180° viewing angle and are commonly used as e-readers due to their paper-like effect.

Image Description: A comparison visual shows three examples of text display: an E-PAPER EINK DISPLAY, PRINTED A4 PAPER, and an LCD MONITOR. All exhibit clear text. The E-Paper and printed paper appear visually similar in contrast and lack of illumination, while the LCD monitor is backlit.

Raspberry Pi Pico Header Compatibility

The module features an onboard female pin header for direct attaching to a Raspberry Pi Pico.

Image Description: The 2.9-inch E-Paper E-Ink Display Module is shown connected directly to a Raspberry Pi Pico board via its header pins. A smaller inset image displays the Raspberry Pi Pico board itself.

Note: Raspberry Pi Pico is NOT included.

Application Examples

This module is suitable for applications such as Price Tags, Asset/Equipment Tags, Shelf Labels, and Conference Name Tags.

  • Super Market: Visual shows a supermarket aisle with products and shelf labels.
  • Cashier-less Store: Visual depicts the interior of a modern retail store with electronic shelf labels.
  • Shelf Label: Visual is a close-up of labels on a store shelf.
