STEP 1: Remove front factory plastic panels
Remove the four screws in front holding on two Yamaha fairing panels. These panels are not needed for the MadStad installation, but save the screws as they will be used later.

STEP 2: Replace the factory side grommets
On the left and right sides of the fairing, locate the rubber grommets. Remove these grommets and replace them with the provided MadStad rubber well nuts (one on each side). The well nuts push in from the front and will swell to fit snugly once screws are inserted.

STEP 3: Attach the MadStad mounting plates
Using the four front factory screws removed in Step 1, attach the MadStad mounting plates to the front of the motorcycle as shown.

STEP 4: Attach side screws
On each side, fasten the mounting plates to the rubber well nut using the M6 x 16 button socket screw and plastic washer provided. Ensure the plate is pressed gently down to keep the rubber well nut seated. Repeat for the other side.

STEP 5: Attach the MadStad brackets
Each MadStad bracket slides onto the silver spools extending from the MadStad mounting plates. The sequence for attaching the bracket to the right side of the bike (front of the bike to the right) is as follows:
- Slide the bottom slot of the MadStad bracket onto the lower side spool.
- Rotate the bracket toward the back of the bike so the curved slot slides onto the upper spool. Ensure it seats fully.
- Lift and rotate the locking key by its bent tab over and onto the upper spool. It should press down and snap into place.
Repeat this process for the left side bracket and lock it into place.

STEP 6: Crossbar Installation
The crossbar is installed between the two brackets at the slightly extended holes near the adjustment knobs. A pin on one side of the crossbar must be placed outside the brackets to prevent rotation. Use the short M6 x 12 screws with flat washers to fasten the crossbar from the outside of the brackets.
[Image description: Illustration of the crossbar installation between the brackets. A small diagram shows the crossbar with a pin, and a circular hole representing the bracket, indicating the pin should be positioned externally to the bracket.]
Windshield Installation
- Pre-install the M5 Truss screws and washers into the windshield holes.
- Gently guide the screws into the well nuts in the brackets until all four are set.
- Hand tighten the Truss screws until they swell up behind the bracket and firmly hold the windshield.

'Well Nut Tips' shows three states: 'Not Tightened' (screw loose), 'Over Tightened' (screw excessively tight), and 'Correct' (screw properly tightened, indicated by a checkmark ✔️).]
Adjusting the MadStad Brackets
The knob screws release the brackets, allowing the windshield to slide and tilt. These screws must be securely tightened before riding. ⚠️ DO NOT attempt to adjust the brackets while riding! Come to a complete stop before making any adjustments. Ensure the windshield does not interfere with handlebars or hand guards when turning or at full lock.
To adjust, loosen the knobs 1-2 turns. Set the windshield so the top edge is near your chin level when looking straight ahead while seated. Set the angle at approximately 60 degrees (refer to the angle guide on the back page if available). Tighten the knobs and test ride on a calm day to evaluate airflow. Avoid adjusting while in motion.
For different positions, stop the motorcycle safely. Loosen the knob screws and tilt the windshield forward/back 2-3 degrees or adjust up/down as needed. Re-tighten and test ride. Experiment with height and rake angles to find the optimal position for comfort and reduced buffeting.
Releasing the MadStad System
The brackets and windshield can be removed as a single unit. Lift and rotate the locking keys down off the top mounting spools, tilt the shield/brackets assembly forward, and lift it off the bike. The crossbar can be used as a grip. Re-attach by reversing the process.
