3. General Description

3.1 The Fuel

The appliance uses ordinary wood billets with 10-20% moisture content and a thermal value of 10,400-16,400 kJ/kg. Recommended woods are beech or common hornbeam. Using dry, well-seasoned wood is essential for correct operation and longevity. Avoid wet wood or wood seasoned for less than 18-20 months, as it can cause malfunctions and tarry deposits. Recommended log size is max 330 mm long (section Ø 80 mm), loading 2-3 logs.

Maximum Permitted Fuel Feed:

Fuel Feed Interval: Must not be less than 1 hour.

⚠️ WARNING: Loading excessive fuel or frequent loading exposes components to very high temperatures. Warranty does not cover damage from prolonged exposure to these temperatures.

Using non-compliant fuel or substances voids the warranty. Do not use as an incinerator or with liquid/gas fuels. Do not overload. Do not store combustible material in the under-oven or tool storage compartments.

3.2 Main Components

For KLARETTA EVO, VIOLETTA EVO, KLARA EVO, VIOLA EVO:

For KLARISSA EVO, MELISSA EVO, MARGOT EVO, MARGHERITA EVO:

F - Primary Air Control: Regulates primary air inflow through the firebox grate to control combustion power and speed. Rotate counterclockwise to reduce airflow, clockwise to increase.

⚠️ ATTENTION: Primary air control can be very hot during operation. Use the provided glove.

H - Secondary Air Lever: Regulates secondary air inflow, which preheats air and aids secondary combustion, keeping the glass clean. Shift levers left to reduce airflow, right to increase.

⚠️ ATTENTION: Secondary air levers are very hot during operation. Use the provided glove.

B - Starter: Creates a direct bypass for flue gases, aiding lighting and refuelling. Use the provided glove when activating, only for lighting or stoking. ⚠️ STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO LEAVE THE STARTER OPEN DURING NORMAL OPERATION. Leaving it open increases fuel consumption, reduces efficiency, and exposes the appliance to high temperatures, voiding warranty. The starter is very hot; use the glove.

Turning towards START activates the bypass; towards WORK activates normal flue gas path.

4. Installation

4.1 Appliance Location

Follow general guidelines (paragraph 1.1). Ensure flooring can withstand appliance weight; use countermeasures if necessary (e.g., load distribution plate).

⚠️ ATTENTION: Room must be well-ventilated and free from humidity/salty air. Install at safe distances from walls and furnishings. If flammable materials are nearby, comply with minimum distances (illustrated diagram: A=800mm, L=300mm, P=300mm). If flooring is combustible, install a fireproof protector plate. For heat-sensitive materials, use insulating/fireproof protection (ref. Uni 10683). Failure to comply voids warranty.

The installer must provide a certificate of conformity, including design plans and documents (materials report, project details, references to previous declarations, installer qualifications).

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Keep documents with the manual. Verify installation compliance. Do not install in unsuitable rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms, garages, lock-ups) or explosive atmospheres.

  6. ⚠️ PROHIBITED: Do not use alcohol, petrol, or other liquids/gases for lighting.
  7. Do not leave unsupervised during lighting (approx. 30 mins) or with abundant embers.
  8. Once lit, close starter towards WORK using the glove.

⚠️ ATTENTION: Open combustion chamber/ash pan doors ONLY for lighting, stoking, and removing material. Keep firebox door FIRMLY CLOSED and starter OFF during normal operation. Leaving starter open increases consumption, reduces efficiency, and causes overheating, voiding warranty. Starter is very hot; use glove.

ℹ️ NOTE: Cooktop may acquire a bluish/yellowish hue after first lighting; this is normal.

6.2 Refuelling

This is an intermittent combustion appliance requiring refuelling. Once embers are present:

  1. Rotate starter to START.
  2. Wait, then slowly open firebox door to minimize smoke. Use riddling tool to spread embers.
  3. NB: Do not light/reload with embers higher than 3 cm.
  4. Load two logs (within weight limits) parallel on the ember bed.
  5. Slowly close firebox door, close starter towards WORK using glove.
  6. Rotate primary air control almost fully, move secondary air levers fully to the left.
