Applicability Proofs
Fire Protection Proofs
AbP P-2100/199/15-MPA BS
[plus] marked information offers additional execution possibilities not directly covered by the applicability proofs. Based on technical assessments, these are considered non-essential deviations. The underlying documents (e.g., expert opinions, technical assessments) are available upon request. It is recommended to coordinate any non-essential deviation with the responsible fire protection personnel and/or authorities before construction.
Execution
Cross Beam (Wechsel)
In the ceiling substructure, arrange cross beams (CD profiles) corresponding to the dimensions of the revision flap. For dimensions > 300x300 mm, attach 4 rigid hangers in the corner areas of the revision flap. For dimensions 300x300 mm and support profile spacing ≤ 625 mm, installation without an additional cross beam is possible if the revision flap is mounted in a free field. Refer to execution details and schematic drawings on the following pages.
Boarding (Beplankung)
Cut an opening in the ceiling boarding approximately 20 mm larger than the revision flap dimensions (= clear passage + 35 mm). Screw the boarding to the cross beams.
Retrofit Installation
Retrofitting is possible depending on the ceiling void depth. Installation height and the mounting of additional substructure must be considered. Cut out the boarding, reinforce the opening with surrounding profile pieces (CD profile, required edge distance of 65 to 100 mm), attach to the support profiles with universal connectors, and screw (screw spacing ≤ 150 mm). Additionally, mount 4 rigid hangers as specified above.
Revision Flap Installation
Mount the supplied wing parts onto the outer frame according to the Knauf system's board thickness. Insert the outer frame of the revision flap into the opening, align the wings onto the boarding, and screw it in place. Screw the boarding to the wings using rapid construction screws TB (two screws per metal wing). The required screw length depends on the boarding. Minimum wing count: 2 wings per frame side for dimensions ≤ 400x400 mm; 3 wings per frame side for dimensions ≤ 600x600 mm; 4 wings per frame side for dimensions ≤ 600x800 mm.
GKF Cover
Subsequently, place the 2-part GKF cover (included in delivery) tightly joined and loosely on top of the boarding.
Inner Lid
Finally, insert the inner lid and check the locking mechanism.
Sealing (Verspachtelung)
Seal the outer frame of the revision flap and the ceiling surface with Uniflott. Sealing the inner frame up to Q2 is not necessary; fill screw heads. For surface quality Q3, finish the inner lid sharply. Thoroughly clean the outer frame, inner lid, and especially the seals after sealing.
Notes
- For rectangular ceiling revision flaps, the locking and hinge system is standardly located on the long side.
- Arrange board joints in the area of the revision flap at least 150 mm offset from the opening edge of the boarding.
- Follow the installation instructions included with the product.
- Execute ceiling systems according to the current Knauf System Data Sheets.
Surface Treatment and Cladding
Surface Treatment
Surface treatment of the revision flaps with gypsum board inlay according to the brochure "Knauf Spachtel-Kompetenz Tro98.de".
Note for Painters
The inner lid of the revision flap should generally be removed before coating and coated separately to prevent paint from entering the narrow gap between the inner lid and the outer frame. Clean the frame from paint residue.
Usage
The revision flaps must always be kept closed and only opened for revision work. The F-TEC BS30 Decke revision flaps are equipped with locks to prevent unauthorized opening.
Note on Fire Resistance
The requirements for the F30 fire resistance class of the suspended ceiling construction with revision opening flaps are only met when the flap is closed.
Diagrams and Schematics
Example Schematic Drawings
Installation in Knauf Slab Ceiling D112.de (Double Profile Grid): Schematic drawing showing the revision flap integrated into a ceiling grid with CD profiles, connectors, and support profiles. Indicates additional suspension points (e.g., Nonius suspension).
Installation in Knauf Slab Ceiling D113.de (Flush Profile Grid): Schematic drawing showing the revision flap integrated into a flush ceiling grid with CD profiles, connectors, and support profiles.
For cross beams, universal connectors are required. If suspended profiles are replaced, additional hangers are necessary.
Execution Detail
Vertical Section (E1201.de-V1 F-TEC BS30 Decke): Detailed vertical cross-section illustrating the installation. It shows the GKF cover, the revision flap assembly (outer frame, inner lid), the ceiling boarding (e.g., 2x 12.5 mm gypsum board), the CD profile acting as a cross beam, and the Knauf plate. Dimensions provided include: flap size, clear passage (dimension - 35 mm), and opening size in boarding (dimension + 2x 10 mm). A minimum distance of ≥ 120 mm is indicated to the sub-ceiling or installation space.
