V-sense SRD2PB PIR Sensor Installation Manual
Warning!
Product Overview
The V-sense SRD2PB is an active Casambi-Ready PIR sensor (infrared presence sensor) with a built-in lux meter, DALI output, relay output, and two push-button inputs. The SRD2PB is designed for multifunctionality, enabling complete control of most rooms without the need for other Casambi devices. It can control up to 20 DALI drivers (40mA) and break non-dimmable loads up to 10A (cos φ=1).
Detection Pattern
The detection pattern indicates the range and sensitivity based on height (H) and movement type.
| Height (m) | Movement Across (m) | Movement Towards (m) | Stationary Activity (m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.4 | Ø 12 | Ø 6 | Ø 4 |
| 2.8 | Ø 14 | Ø 7.5 | Ø 4 |
| 3.2 | Ø 16 | Ø 9 | Ø 4 |
| 3.6 | Ø 18 | Ø 10 | Ø 4 |
| 4 | Ø 20 | Ø 11.5 | Not recommended |
| 5 | Ø 25 | Ø 14.5 | Not recommended |
Note: The 360° detection pattern is standard.
Installation
This unit is designed for ceiling mounting in accordance with IEC 63180.
Important Considerations:
- Do not place the unit where direct sunlight can reach the sensor.
- Do not place the sensor within 1 meter of lighting, forced air heating, or ventilation.
- Do not attach the sensor to an unstable or vibrating surface.
- Movement is best detected when the ambient temperature differs from the human body’s temperature; use within -20°C to 35°C for ambient temperature.
- For stationary work, installation directly above the workplace is recommended.
Recommendations for Hole Cutting
Recommended hole diameter: Ø 64-74mm.
Hole cutting over 70mm requires sharp edges to prevent the hole from being visible.
Changing the Spring Position
The position of the springs can be adjusted based on ceiling thickness for optimal mounting.
Recommended spring position based on suspended ceiling thickness:
- 30-43mm
- 16-30mm
- 6-16mm
Steps:
- Remove the spring bend from the plastic hook by pressing it down. [Illustration: Pressing a hook down.]
- Compress the spring from the right side and detach it from the left plastic peg. [Illustration: Compressing a spring and detaching it.]
- For reassembly, perform steps 1 & 2 in reverse order.
Recommendations for Cable Stripping
Strip the outer sheath to 35mm and the inner wires to 7mm.
[Illustration: Cable stripping lengths: 7mm for inner wires, 35mm for outer sheath.]
Wiring Diagram
The X-terminal is intended as a crossover terminal.
Tip! Since the terminal is removable, it can be detached to easily connect the wiring separately from the sensor. Once connected, the terminal can be pressed back into place in the sensor.
[Illustration: Wiring connections for DA+, DA-, S2, S1, X, L', N, L terminals. Includes connections to a DALI driver and mains power (L, N).]
- DA+: DALI+
- DA-: DALI-
- S2: Push-button input 2
- S1: Push-button input 1
- X: Crossover terminal
- L': Live (switched)
- N: Neutral
- L: Live (mains)
Mounting & Strain Relief (for recessed mounting)
Follow these steps for mounting the sensor:
- Press the plastic part according to the picture until it clicks. [Illustration: Pressing a plastic part.]
- Press the plastic part until it clicks. Ensure the plastic hook slides into the pocket on the plastic part. [Illustration: A plastic hook engaging with a pocket.]
- Mount the strain relief (fits Ø8mm – Ø13mm outer dimension). Set the strain relief bracket in the correct direction to grip the cable dimension being used. [Illustration: Mounting a strain relief bracket.]
- Press out the appropriate hole diameter (pre-punched Ø12 & Ø16mm) for the cable. [Illustration: Pressing out a cable entry hole.]
- Press the plastic part until it clicks. [Illustration: Pressing another plastic part.]
- Check that all parts are properly assembled and no gaps are visible. Press affected parts as needed. [Illustration: A fully assembled unit.]
- Bend up the springs and insert the sensor through the hole. [Illustration: Bending springs and inserting the sensor.]
Tip! When installing with flex tube, use a pipe coupling to ensure the flexible conduit is held in place.
Tip! Use the included cable ties to organize the cables by inserting them into the holes.

Load Specifications
The breaking capacity of 10A applies to resistive load. Different load types have varying inrush currents and voltage spikes. To maximize lifespan, adhere to the recommended values below, assuming a non-warm installation environment.
| Load | PF | Effect (W) | VA | Current |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Resistive load (resistive heater) | 1 | 2300W | 2300VA | 10A |
| Halogen/incandescent 230V | 1 | 1800W | 1800VA | 7.8A |
| LED loads | 0.9 | 1000W | 1122VA | 4.35A |
| Fluorescent, uncompensated | 0.3 | 430W | 1430VA | 6.25A |
| Fluorescent, compensated | 0.85 | 935W | 1085VA | 5A |
| Low voltage halogen, electronic | 0.8 | 935W | 1085VA | 5A |
| Low voltage halogen, conventional | 0.95 | 740W | 740VA | 3A |
| Energy-saving lamps | 0.6 | 300W | 500VA | 2.5A |
| Motors and fans | 0.7 | 380W | 575VA | 2.5A |
Heat Protection
The SRD2PB is equipped with overheating protection. During prolonged continuous operation with high load in a warm environment, the sensor will shut off. If installed in a warm environment, the relay cannot be loaded to its maximum. Long cable lengths can also generate heat due to resistance.
Range and MESH Network
Using MESH network technology, you can control all devices by being within range (max 30 meters) of just one. MESH technology enables large-scale installations with numerous fixtures, controllable via smartphone. A recommended range of 10 meters is suggested, as installation conditions vary.
Effective range is highly dependent on the environment and obstacles like walls and building materials. Metal significantly blocks radio signals; avoid enclosing the unit in metal or placing it near large metal structures.
Note: A Casambi device without a load can be used in the network to strengthen network strength via MESH technology.
Changing Profile
Profiles can be changed by selecting the unit in the Casambi app under "Nearby devices" and choosing "Change profile".
Available Profiles:
- SRD2PB DALI Broadcast: Simultaneous control of DALI-drivers.
- SRD2PB DALI 4 groups: Group control of DALI-drivers.
- SRD2PB DALI 8 groups (No Relay): Group control of DALI-drivers without relay functionality.
