1. What's Included in The Box?

1.1 Intercom Overview

Each intercom station includes the following accessories. Additional stations purchased separately will come with their own set of accessories.

Intercom Unit Description: The unit features a speaker, an antenna, a keypad with channel numbers (0-9), function keys (VOL+, VOL-, GROUP, MONITOR, VOX, CALL, TALK), a power port (DC 5V 1A), and an indicator light. It also has a digital code selector (A/B/C) located on the back.

Included Accessories:

  • AC Adapter (DC 5V 1A)
  • Cable

2. Getting Started

Follow these basic steps to set up your intercom system:

  1. 2.1 Connect AC Power
  2. 2.2 Set Code & Channel
  3. 2.3 Make an "Address List"
  4. 2.4 Test Connecting
  5. 2.5 Distribute Different Stations to Different Users

Note: Examples provided are for 2 intercom stations. For multiple stations, follow the same directions.

2.1 Connect AC Power

Each intercom station is equipped with an adapter (DC 5V1A) and a cable. Connect each station to your local AC power using the original adapter and cable. If you encounter any problems with the adapter or cable, contact Wuloo for a free replacement under warranty, or a discount if the warranty has expired.

Visual Description: An illustration shows an intercom unit connected to an AC adapter plugged into a wall outlet. Two intercom units are shown separated by at least 5 meters, labeled "Member A" and "Member B", indicating they should be kept apart during testing.

2.2 Set Code & Channel

This intercom system supports 3 codes (A, B, C) and 10 channels (0-9). The table below shows the available frequencies and their corresponding codes.

CHANNEL FREQUENCY CODE
CH1462.7250MHz
CH2462.5875MHz
CH3462.6125MHz
CH4462.6375MHzCODE A:754N
CH5462.6625MHzCODE B:743N
CH6462.6875MHzCODE C:734N
CH7462.7125MHz
CH8467.5625MHz
CH9467.5875MHz
CH0467.6125MHz
GROUP467.7125MHzCODE:743N

Code Setting: Select code A, B, or C using the switch located beside the power port. It is recommended to set all stations to the same code for efficient communication. Once codes are set, you can adjust channels for calls without needing to reset the code for each user.

Channel Setting: After setting the code, assign a unique channel number (0-9) to each intercom station by pressing and holding any channel number key for 3 seconds. To call another intercom, press its channel number, then press the CALL button ▶️ CALL. To speak, press and hold the TALK button ?️ TALK. After communication ends, the intercom automatically returns to its original channel within 1 minute of inactivity.

Visual Description: An illustration shows the back of an intercom with a "Digital Code (A/B/C)" selector. Another illustration shows two intercom units, "Member A" and "Member B", with their respective Code A and Channel 3/5 settings highlighted.

2.3 Make an "Address List"

For systems with many units, an "address list" can help track channel numbers for each user. This is recommended for larger systems.

Visual Description: A list shows three members with their assigned Code A and Channel numbers: Member A (Channel 3), Member B (Channel 5), Member C (Channel 6).

2.4 Test Connecting

Follow these steps to test your connection:

  1. Step 1: Separate intercoms at least 5 meters apart to prevent interference.
  2. Step 2: Set up each intercom with the same code but different channels. For testing, Intercom A uses Code A, Channel 3, and Intercom B uses Code A, Channel 5. For multiple units, maintain the same code and assign unique channels (0-9).
  3. Step 3: Intercom A (Code A, Channel 3) presses channel key "5" 5, then the CALL button ▶️ CALL.
  4. Step 4: Intercom B (Code A, Channel 5) should ring.
  5. Step 5: If Intercom B rings, press and hold the TALK button ?️ TALK, say "hello" to test voice connection, then release TALK.
  6. Step 6: Intercom A (Code A, Channel 3) hears "hello", then presses and holds TALK ?️ TALK to reply "hello, testing one, two, three".

Successful audio on both ends confirms the intercom system is set up correctly.

Visual Description: Illustrations depict the testing steps, showing Member A and Member B intercoms, their settings, and the sequence of button presses (CALL, TALK).

2.5 Distribute Different Stations to Different Users

After successful testing, assign intercom stations and the "address list" to their respective users.

Visual Description: Illustrations show intercom units being placed in different user environments (e.g., office desk, home setting).

2.6 Notes

  1. To speak, press and hold the TALK button ?️ TALK. A simple click is invalid.
  2. The TALK button cannot be pressed on both sides simultaneously. One user speaks, then releases TALK for the other to respond. Holding TALK on both sides prevents hearing the other user.

Visual Description: Diagrams illustrate correct (Speaking/Listening) and incorrect (simultaneous speaking) usage of the TALK button. A green checkmark (✔️) indicates correct operation, and a red cross () indicates incorrect operation.

3. Advanced Settings

3.1 Volume Setting

This intercom has 8 volume levels. Use the VOL+ and VOL- buttons to adjust the volume.

Visual Description: An illustration of the intercom highlights the "8 levels of volume available" near the VOL+ and VOL- buttons.

3.2 Code & Channel Setting

The intercom is a real-time communication system requiring identical channel and code settings between communicating units. This system has 3 code settings (A, B, C) and 10 channels (0-9).

Visual Description: An illustration shows the "Digital Code (A/B/C)" selector on the back of the intercom.

Set the code on the back of the intercom. Press and hold any channel number key for 3 seconds to set the channel number for that intercom. To call another station, press its channel number, then the CALL button ▶️ CALL. To speak, press and hold the TALK button ?️ TALK. After communication, the intercom reverts to its original channel within 1 minute of inactivity.

It is recommended to set all stations to the same code for efficient communication. Channels can then be adjusted for individual calls.

Visual Description: An illustration shows a hand pressing and holding a channel number key on the intercom keypad for 3 seconds.

3.3 Functions Description

This intercom offers several functions:

3.3.1 TALK

To use the TALK function, press and hold the TALK button ?️ TALK. The indicator light turns red. Speak while the light is red. Release the TALK button when finished. Your message is then transmitted to other stations with the same channel and code settings.

Visual Description: An illustration shows the TALK button and the indicator light, with text "Press & Hold to speak, and release it after speaking."

Notes:

  • This is a single-way communication system. You cannot receive messages while pressing TALK.
  • There is a transmission time limit (TOT) of 1 minute per message.
  • Messages sent to units with the same channel and code are received by all of them.
  • The intercom reverts to its original channel after 1 minute of inactivity.

3.3.2 GROUP

This function allows calling all intercom stations simultaneously. Press and hold the GROUP button ? GROUP) to speak to everyone in the system, regardless of their individual channel and code settings.

To confirm if a station is part of the system, check its frequency and code against the table in section 2.2.

Visual Description: Diagrams illustrate the GROUP function, showing "Member A" pressing and holding "GROUP" to communicate with "Member B" and "Member C", who are in "Listening" mode.

"GROUP" Function Update: Add a Switch for GROUP Function

To address interference issues caused by neighbors using the GROUP function, Wuloo has introduced a switch to enable/disable it.

How to Turn On or Off the GROUP Function: The GROUP function is enabled by default.

  • Turn Off: Press and hold the GROUP button and VOL- button simultaneously. A beep indicates the function is off.
  • Turn On: Press and hold the GROUP button and VOL+ button simultaneously. A beep indicates the function is on.

3.3.3 MONITOR

Place an intercom in the room to be monitored (e.g., a baby's room) and press the MONITOR button ?️ MONITOR). This unit stays in transmit mode, sending audio to any intercom with the same channel and code. The monitor function has a 10-hour time limit and requires resetting every 10 hours for continuous monitoring.

Visual Description: Two images depict the MONITOR function. One shows a "listening" scene (parents in a room), with text "Set the same Channel&Code as baby room, then you can hear the baby's voice." The other shows a "speaking" scene (a baby in a crib), with text "Press MONITOR button, keep in monitored status in 10 hours."

3.3.4 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange)

Press the VOX button ?️ VOX) to enter VOX mode. The channel number key will flash blue. In VOX mode, speaking into the intercom activates transmission without needing to press TALK. The indicator light turns red when your voice is detected. Other units with the same channel and code can receive your audio and respond by pressing TALK.

Both users can speak hands-free in VOX mode, but require a brief activation phrase (e.g., "Hello") and must wait for the other person to finish speaking. This can result in slight delays.

VOX mode has a 24-hour time limit and needs to be reset for longer periods.

To exit VOX mode, press the VOX button again.

Visual Description: Illustrations show intercom units in VOX mode. Text states: "In VOX mode, you can talk with others hands free, and others can reply you by Press&Hold the TALK button."

Notes on MONITOR vs. VOX:

Feature MONITOR Mode VOX Mode
Placement In the monitored room (e.g., baby's room) On your side for speaking
Duration Up to 10 hours Up to 24 hours
Activation No voice activation needed Voice activation required (detects speech)
Transmission Cannot send audio messages; only listen. Speak without pressing TALK. Other user presses TALK to reply.

3.3.5 CALL

Set the channel and code to match the intercom you wish to call, then press the CALL button ▶️ CALL). Both your intercom and the target intercom will ring. The recipient can then press and hold TALK ?️ TALK) to speak, and release it to listen. You can then press and hold TALK ?️ TALK) to reply.

  • The intercom system is real-time and has no memory or storage function. Information cannot be received while actively talking.
  • To ensure communication between two stations, they must share the same channel and code. Be aware that other users with the same settings might interfere. Consider using different channels or codes to avoid interference.

5. Troubleshooting

Most issues can be resolved by adjusting settings. Consult the table below for common problems and solutions. For further assistance, contact Wuloo customer service via email or Facebook.

Trouble Possible Solution
The intercom is connected to AC power, but the machine does not work.
  1. Check if the AC power cord is properly connected.
  2. Try a different AC adapter. Wuloo provides free replacements for warranty-period issues. Out-of-warranty adapters can be purchased at a discount.
The intercom cannot receive responses.
  1. Ensure intercoms are set to the same channel and code.
  2. Release the TALK button after speaking; you cannot hear responses while holding it.
  3. Verify the intercom is not in MONITOR mode, which only sends audio. Press MONITOR again to exit.
  4. Increase volume using the VOL+ button.
The intercom cannot talk to other intercoms.
  1. Ensure intercoms are set to the same channel and code.
  2. Press and hold TALK after the other user has finished speaking. Release TALK to receive their response.
The intercom is making a continuous "beep" sound.
  1. Move intercoms away from other devices (e.g., speakers) to reduce interference.
  2. Change to a different channel or code to avoid interference from other wireless devices.
The intercom units do not work. Try setting up units in different locations. If they work elsewhere but not at home, the issue might be with your home's environment (e.g., walls).
The intercom does not receive any information while it is in Monitor mode.
  1. MONITOR mode supports one receiving unit per sending unit, or multiple receiving units to one sending unit. A single monitor unit cannot receive audio from multiple sending units simultaneously.
  2. Monitor mode lasts up to 10 hours; reset it for longer periods.
  3. Place the intercom in MONITOR mode close to the person/area to be monitored (e.g., a baby).
  4. The monitored side (in MONITOR mode) can only send audio, not receive it.

6. Adding Additional Units

This system supports expansion to more intercom stations for increased convenience.

6.1 Expand to more intercom stations

To expand your system, purchase additional intercom units of the same model number. Once received, set them to the same channel and code as your existing system to ensure communication.

7. Questions & Answers

Question 1: Why does my intercom sometimes receive noise?
Answer 1: This is likely due to the FM wireless technology using public frequencies. Interference may occur if other wireless intercom devices are using the same frequency. Change the intercom settings to a different channel or code to resolve this.
Question 2: This intercom uses FM wireless communication. Do I need to have a license?
Answer 2: No, this system uses public frequency and does not require a license.
Question 3: Can I talk to the other user without pressing the TALK key?
Answer 3: No, you must press and hold the TALK button while speaking. The VOX function allows talking without holding TALK. Refer to section 3.3.4 for details.
Question 4: If I use a public frequency, will I encounter interference?
Answer 4: Interference is rare but possible if others use the same frequency. Changing the channel or code can avoid this.
Question 5: Can I use batteries for these machines?
Answer 5: No, this intercom does not work with batteries. A power bank (DC 5V1A) can be used instead, suitable for outdoor use.
Question 6: What voltage do the intercoms work with?
Answer 6: The included adapter supports 100-240V AC power, making it useful worldwide.
