Model: Kilo Jul
Manufacturer: EDELRID
Certification: Braking device according to EN 15151-2, Type 2
Product Overview
The Edelrid Kilo Jul is a braking device designed for securing climbers (lead and top rope) and for lowering or rappelling during climbing activities. It is compliant with EN 15151-2, Type 2 standards.
Instructions for Use, Safety, Lifespan, Storage, and Care
This manual provides essential information that must be understood before using the Kilo Jul device. Climbing and working at heights involve inherent risks, and while this manual offers guidance, it cannot replace experience, personal responsibility, and knowledge of potential hazards. Use is restricted to trained and experienced individuals or under appropriate supervision.
Functional and Safety Check
Before each use, verify the correct insertion of the rope and the device's proper functioning and braking effect. Be aware that smooth ropes, moisture, or ice can negatively impact braking performance. If no braking effect is detected with a correctly inserted rope, the device must not be used. Always maintain a firm grip on the brake strand with your braking hand.
Rope Compatibility
The Kilo Jul is suitable for ropes with a diameter range of 7.8 mm to 11.0 mm.
- For lead climbing, only dynamic ropes conforming to EN 892 are permitted.
- Static ropes may only be used for top-roping or for lowering/rappelling a person, not for lead climbing.
- Avoid slack in the rope.
Attaching to the Harness
The device must be attached to the harness's tie-in loop using a locking carabiner.
