Safety Instructions

⚠️ WARNING

Follow carefully these safety and installation instructions. Improper work may lead to serious harm to your health and may also damage the Intesis gateway and/or any other equipment connected to it.

  • The Intesis gateway must be installed by an accredited electrician or similar technical personnel, following all safety instructions given here and in accordance with the country's legislation for the installation of electric equipment.
  • The Intesis gateway cannot be installed outdoors or exposed to direct solar radiation, water, high relative humidity, or dust.
  • The Intesis gateway must only be installed in a restricted access location.
  • For wall mount, fix the Intesis device firmly on a non-vibrating surface following the instructions below.
  • For DIN rail mount, fix the Intesis device properly to the DIN rail following the instructions below.
  • Mounting on DIN rail inside a metallic cabinet properly connected to earth is recommended.
  • Always disconnect power from any wires before manipulating and connecting them to the Intesis gateway.
  • A power supply with an [NEC Class 2] or [LPS] (Limited Power Source) and [SELV] rated supply must be used.
  • Always respect the expected polarity of power and communication cables when connecting them to the Intesis gateway.
  • Always supply the correct voltage to power the Intesis device; see details of the voltage range admitted by the device in the technical characteristics.

[CAUTION]: Risk of Explosion if Battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. Battery replacement shall be done by an authorized installer.

[CAUTION]: The device is to be connected only to networks without routing to the outside plant. All communication ports are considered for indoor use only and can be connected to [SELV] circuits only.

This device was designed for installation in an enclosure. To avoid electrostatic discharge to the unit in environments with static levels above [4 kV], precautions should be taken when the device is mounted outside an enclosure. When working in an enclosure (e.g., making adjustments, setting switches, etc.), typical anti-static precautions should be observed before touching the unit.

Configuration

Use the Configuration Tool to configure the gateway.

See instructions to download and install the latest version at: [Link] https://intesis.com/docs/software/intesis-maps-installer

Use the [Ethernet] connection or the [Console] Port ([USB-Mini-B] connector included) for communication between the gateway and the configuration tool. See CONNECTIONS below and follow instructions of the user's manual for more details.

Installation

Follow instructions next to properly install the gateway.

  • Disconnect the power supply from the mains before connecting it to the Intesis gateway.
  • Disconnect power from any bus or communication cable before connecting it to the Intesis device.
  • Mount the Intesis gateway on the wall or [DIN Rail] following the instructions given below, respecting the safety instructions above.
  • Connect a [NEC Class 2] or [LPS] rated power supply to the Intesis gateway, respecting polarity for DC power or Line and Neutral for AC power. Always apply a voltage within the range admitted by the Intesis device and of sufficient power (see technical characteristics).
  • A circuit-breaker must be used before the power supply. Rating [250V-6A].
  • Connect the communication cables to the Intesis gateway; see details in the user's manual.
  • Power the Intesis device and the rest of the devices connected to it.

NOTE: The device cannot be installed in air-handling space.

Wall Mount

1. Separate the fixing clips in the bottom of the box by pushing them outwards until you hear a "click", which indicates that the clips are now in position for wall mount. See the figure below.

Diagram Description: The diagram shows the bottom of the gateway enclosure. Two clips are visible. The text indicates to push these clips outwards to change their position from the original state (for DIN rail mount) to the state ready for wall mount.

2. Use the holes to fix the box to the wall using screws. Use the template below for the wall holes.

Diagram Description: The diagram shows the gateway enclosure with screw holes visible on the back, intended for wall mounting. It also shows the clips in their original position (for DIN rail mount) and in their position for wall mount.

DIN Rail Mount

With the clips of the box in their original position, insert first the box into the upper edge of the [DIN Rail] and then insert the box into the lower part of the rail, using a small screwdriver and following the steps in the figure below.

Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the process of mounting the gateway onto a DIN rail. It shows the gateway enclosure with its clips in the original position. The steps involve hooking the top edge of the enclosure onto the top of the DIN rail and then pressing the bottom part down to secure it, possibly with the aid of a small screwdriver.

CONNECTIONS

Diagram Description: A schematic diagram shows various connection ports on the Intesis gateway. These include Power Supply terminals (labeled A1, A2), LON (Port A, labeled A3, A4), Ethernet (RJ45 connector), BACnet IP, Console (USB-Mini-B connector), USB storage (USB-Type-A connector), and BACnet MSTP (Port B, labeled B1, B2, B3). LEDs for Ethernet link/speed, Port A TX/RX, Port B TX/RX, Run/Error, Button A, and Button B are also indicated. Switches SWA and SWB are shown for configuration.

Power Supply

Must use [NEC Class 2] or [LPS] rated [SELV] power supply.

  • If using DC power supply: Respect polarity applied to terminals (+) and (-). Ensure the voltage applied is within the admitted range (check table below). The power supply can be connected to earth but only through the negative terminal, never through the positive terminal.
  • If using AC power supply: Ensure the voltage applied is the admitted value ([24VAC]). Do not connect any of the AC power supply terminals to earth, and ensure the same power supply is not supplying any other device.

Ethernet / BACnet IP (UDP) / Console (UDP & TCP)

Connect the cable coming from the IP network to the [Ethernet] connector (ETH) of the gateway. Use an [Ethernet] CAT5 cable. If communicating through the building's LAN, contact the network administrator and ensure traffic on the used port is allowed through the entire LAN path (check the gateway user manual for more information). With factory settings, after powering up the gateway, [DHCP] will be enabled for [30s]. After that time, if no IP is provided by a DHCP server, the default IP [192.168.100.246] will be set.

Port A / LON

Connect the [LON] bus to connectors A3 (A), A4 (B) of gateway's Port A. Connect A2 and cable [Shield] to installation [Earth].

Port B / BACnet MSTP

Connect the [EIA485] bus to connectors B1 (-), B2 (+) and B3 (SGND) of gateway's Port B. Remember the characteristics of the standard [EIA485] bus: maximum distance of [1200m], maximum [32 Devices] connected to the bus. At each end of the bus, a termination resistor of [120 Ω] must be present. Bus biasing and termination resistor for [EIA485] can be enabled for Port B by means of a dedicated DIP switch (see table below).

Console Port

Connect a [USB-Mini-B] cable from your computer to the gateway to allow communication between the Configuration Software and the gateway. [Ethernet] connection is also allowed. Check the user manual for more information.

USB Storage

Connect a [USB] storage device (not an HDD) if required. Check the user manual for more information.
