Important Safety Information

Before installing any Sengled Smart LED Starter Kit or bulbs, please read and follow all precautions:

  • Turn off power before installation or removal. Discontinue use if damaged.
  • Warning: Risk of electric shock. Do not attempt to disassemble the bulb.
  • Not suitable for use with standard wall dimmers.
  • Not suitable for completely enclosed fixtures.
  • Suitable for use in operating environments between -4°F and 104°F (-20°C and 40°C).

Installation Instructions

The following instructions are applicable to adding your Smart LED bulb to a Sengled hub. If you have a third-party hub (e.g., SmartThings, Amazon Echo Plus) or need to find the latest list of supported hubs, please refer to support.sengled.com.

Installation Methods Overview

Three different installation methods are available:

Method 1: Use Sengled Home app with a registered account

  1. Download the latest version of the Sengled Home App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Register and sign in to your Sengled account in the app.
  3. Connect your Sengled Smart Hub to your wireless router using an Ethernet cable. Connect the power adapter to your hub to power the unit on. The three LED indicators of the hub will turn on.
  4. Open the Sengled Home App. Go to Devices, select the '+' sign, and choose Starter Kit or Smart Hub (from Zigbee Devices Hub Required).
  5. Ensure your Sengled Home app can discover the bulbs. If the app unsuccessfully discovers the bulbs, please refer to the "Reset Instructions" for how to reset your bulb before attempting to add it back in.
  6. Follow in-app instructions to finish installation.

Note: Your mobile device's Wi-Fi must be on and connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network as your hub during installation. This method guides you through adding the Hub first, then powering on the bulbs, which will appear under the Devices tab and Room assignment pages.

Method 2: Use Sengled Home app without a registered account

  1. Download the latest version of the Sengled Home App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Select "DON'T HAVE SENGLED ACCOUNT", then select "HomeKit MODE".
  3. Connect your Sengled Smart Hub to your wireless router using an Ethernet cable. Connect the power adapter to your hub to power the unit on. The three LED indicators of the hub will turn on. Your mobile device's Wi-Fi connection must be ON and connected to the same wireless router as your hub during installation.
  4. Press the button "CONTINUE".
  5. A Hub Search will be executed. After a Sengled Smart Hub is found, tap the hub icon.
  6. Select "CONNECT TO HomeKit" to scan the HomeKit setup QR code (located on the back of the hub E39-G8C) to add it and its accessories. If you have a Sengled Starter Kit, the bulbs associated with the Sengled Smart Hub will show up automatically.

Method 3: Use Apple Home app

Note: Only Apple HomeKit and Siri control are supported in this mode.

  1. Connect your Sengled Smart Hub E39-G8C to your wireless router using an Ethernet cable. Connect the power adapter to your hub to power the unit on. The three LED indicators of the hub will turn on.
  2. Open the Apple Home app on your iOS device with iOS 10.x or later.
  3. Select "+" at the top right corner of the Home page. Select "Add Accessory".
  4. Use the camera on your iOS device to scan the Apple HomeKit setup code (located on the back of the hub E39-G8C) or enter the 8-digit code manually.
  5. Follow the directions of the Apple Home app to complete the Sengled Smart Hub setup process. If you have a Sengled Starter Kit, the bulbs associated with Sengled Smart Hub will show up automatically. If you want to use more Sengled smart devices, you can also add Smart Window & Door Sensor, Smart Plug, or other Sengled Smart LED bulbs via Sengled Home app first. Please refer to the "Installation Instructions: Use Sengled Home app with a registered account" instructions.

Reset Instructions

Reset the Hub

Locate the reset button on the side of the hub. Press and hold the button for 8 seconds, then release. If the reset is successful, the middle LED will flash 8 times. At this time, please re-attempt adding your hub with the Sengled Home app.

Note: The smart devices paired with the hub WILL NOT be deleted when you reset the hub.

Reset the Bulbs

To reset your Smart LED bulb, ensure that the bulb is on and then quickly turn the bulb off and on at least 10 times (using a light switch or power bar works best). If the reset is successful, the bulb will flash five times. If it does not flash five times, you will have to try again. Once successfully reset, please try to pair it in your Sengled Home app again.

Operation

The following section outlines some of the popular operational modes of the Sengled Smart LED bulbs.

Applicable to all Sengled Smart LED bulbs:

A. On / Off
Smart LED bulbs can be controlled through a variety of means:

  • Manually via a wall switch
  • Through Sengled Home app (including Widget)
  • Through partner programs like Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, etc.
  • Through Sengled Smart Switch

B. Dimming
Smart LED bulbs can be dimmed through the following:

  • Through Sengled Home app (including Widget)
  • Through partner programs like Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, etc.
  • Through Sengled Smart Light Switch

Note: Manual dimming via wall dimmers is not supported.

C. Scheduling
Schedules can be created with the Sengled Home App.

Third-Party Voice Control

Check the in-app how-to pages through "Settings" for the following operations:

  • Set up Amazon Alexa by adding Sengled Home Skill.
  • Set up Google Assistant by adding Sengled Home Service.
  • Setup Apple HomeKit by "Add Accessory" from iOS Home app. (Sengled smart hub E39-G8C required)

Note: Alexa and Google Assistant control are only available after setup Sengled Home app.

For Sengled Smart LED Multicolor bulbs:

D. Tuning Whites
Adjust whites via the white palette in the Sengled Home app, or with voice control and third party apps.

E. Changing Colors
Change between 16 million colors using the color palette in the Sengled Home app, or with voice control and third party apps.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What should I do if the Sengled Smart Hub cannot be found or set up using the Sengled Home app?

    Make sure your hub is connected to the wireless router directly with an Ethernet cable and has power connection. After powering on the hub, the indicator lights will turn on. Please also make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi router that your smart hub is connected with during setup.

    If the lights do not turn ON, please check the status of your smart hub; make sure the LED indicator lights are on properly. If the Power LED is off, please check the power adapter; if the network LED is off, please check your internet connection. If the Ethernet LED is off, please check the Ethernet cable connection.

  2. Can different types of Sengled Smart devices be used simultaneously?

    Yes, a single Sengled hub can support up to 64 Sengled smart devices, including smart LED bulbs, smart plugs, smart sensors, smart light switch, etc. For the latest selection, please check out sengled.com.

  3. Can I use multiple voice control services to control my bulbs?

    Yes. If you choose to set up Sengled Smart LED Kit with Sengled Home app using a registered account, you can link your bulbs with multiple smart speaker platforms simultaneously.

  4. What can be used to dim these lights?

    We recommend using the Sengled Home app or a compatible smart device to dim or brighten your Sengled Smart LED bulb. If the Sengled Smart LED bulb is installed on a wall dimmer, the dimmer must be set at 100% at all times. Manual dimming through the wall dimmer is not supported.

  5. Sengled Smart LED bulbs appear offline or unresponsive, what should I do?

    a) Please check the light switch and make sure that it's switched to "On".

    b) Refresh the status of your hub, navigate to the Home tab, swipe down and then release.

    c) Try moving the bulbs closer to the hub. Additionally, check to make sure that your internet connection is working properly. Try turning the bulbs off and on. If that does not work, try turning the hub off and on. If all else fails, try restarting your router.

  6. Can different types of Sengled smart bulbs be used simultaneously?

    Yes, a single Sengled Hub can support up to 64 devices from the Sengled Smart LED family (formerly Element Classic, Element Plus, Element Color Plus, PAR38, 100W and Element Smart Plug).
