Troubleshooting Tips
Keypad not typing numbers:
Ensure Num Lock is activated on your PC by tapping the "num Ik" key.
Bluetooth connectivity problems:
- Confirm your device has native Bluetooth. If not, a 3rd party Bluetooth dongle may be required.
- For wireless connection, the Profile Switch must be in one of the two Wireless positions (Middle/White or Right/Blue). In Wired Mode (Left/Green), the Bluetooth radio is disabled.
- Profile LED flashing FAST indicates "Pairing Mode". SLOW flashing indicates it's paired but unable to reconnect; try power cycling the keypad and/or device.
- To re-pair: Place Profile Switch in desired position, ✊ hold "num Ik" key, ? tap 0 to clear that profile and enter pairing mode. On your PC, Forget/Erase the pairing connection, then follow pairing steps on Page 2.
Backlighting not working:
Backlighting requires USB power. Connect the keypad via USB cable and use the backlight command (✊ HOLD Num Lock and ? tap ➕) to adjust brightness.

Overview
The Kinesis Mechanical Keypad LP offers a classic 10-key layout enhanced with premium features. It includes mechanical switches, programmability, optional backlighting, and an ergonomic palm support, setting it apart from conventional keypads.
Getting Started
The keypad uses generic operating system drivers, requiring no special software. Remove the protective plastic film from the pre-installed AAA batteries before proceeding.
Wired Mode:
Connect the keypad to a PC with a full-size USB-A port using the included USB cable. Place the Profile Switch in the left position (? Green). The Profile LED will illuminate green, and keystrokes will be sent via USB. The Bluetooth radio is disabled, and battery power is not consumed. If your PC has only USB-C ports, use a USB C-to-C "data" cable or a USB A-to-C adapter (not included).
Wireless Mode:
Pair the Keypad with up to two different Bluetooth-enabled devices and switch between them using the Profile Switch. To conserve battery life, slide the Profile Switch to the left position when not in use.
Bluetooth Pairing:
- Slide the Profile Switch to the middle position (⚪ White Profile).
- The Profile LED will flash ⚪ White rapidly, indicating it's ready to pair.
- Navigate to your PC's Bluetooth Menu and select "Kinesis Keypad". Follow the on-screen prompts to connect.
- The Profile LED will briefly turn ⚪ Solid White when pairing is successful.
- To pair an additional device, slide the Profile switch to the right position (? Blue) and repeat the pairing steps.
Note: Refer to Page 6 of this guide for connectivity troubleshooting tips.
Ergonomics
The Kinesis Mechanical Keypad LP features a novel ergonomic design to ensure your hand and arm are placed in a more natural position than with a conventional keypad.
- Palm Support: Provides a convenient palm support that promotes a neutral typing position, reducing wrist extension and eliminating pressure that can cause circulation issues.
- Low Profile: Features low-profile mechanical switches to further minimize wrist extension caused by conventional mechanical keypads.
- Reduced Finger Strain and Impact: The mechanical switches have a low actuation force and a full buffer zone for less bottoming out. It is recommended to train yourself not to depress the key all the way to minimize fingertip impacts.
- Reduce Eye Strain via Optional Backlighting: Connect the keypad's USB cable to enable backlighting for key legends in low-light environments. ✊ Hold "num Ik" and ? tap the ➕ key to adjust the brightness level or disable backlighting.
- Ergonomic Placement: Decoupling the keypad from your main keyboard improves your overall ergonomic setup by allowing closer placement of your mouse or other pointing device when the keypad is not in use. Reaching for your pointing device is a common cause of shoulder and elbow strain. When actively using the keypad, place it to the right or left of your keyboard to distribute workload across both arms. With a split keyboard, it can be placed between the key modules.

Keyboard Customization with Clique
The Kinesis Keypad features a convenient programming interface for quick and easy customization without needing drivers or software.
What Can I do with Clique:
You can make subtle tweaks to the keypad's layout or add additional combo actions, such as Backspace, Tab, or Delete, to the "Aux" layer (see Page 6). You can also install custom or blank MX-style 3rd party keycaps to create a custom "macropad". Configure up to 8 custom layers, choose from over 350+ USB actions, single or double mouse clicks, and a library of Windows and macOS macros, plus Advanced Actions. All changes are saved directly to the keypad, not your computer.
Getting Started with Clique:
- Connect the keypad to a desktop or laptop using the included USB cable.
- Slide the Profile Switch to the left position to enable Wired Mode.
- Open a CHROME or EDGE web browser and launch Clique: clique.kinesis-ergo.com
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select and unlock the "Kinesis Keypad".
- Click the desired key in the Keymap and select a new action from the Action Menu. The OS box shows only Basic USB Actions supported on your computer.
Note: The Num Lock key is pre-configured to send the Num Lock command when tapped. Holding it momentarily shifts to the "Aux" layer for secondary actions like: Reset Bluetooth, Cycle Backlighting, or Unlock Clique. Other actions can be assigned to keys and accessed by holding Num Lock.
Click Apply to store the new action or Cancel to discard changes. Click Save to store all customizations permanently on the keypad.

Replacing the Batteries
