Site Supervisor Small Format Critical Security Update

Overview

All customers using Small Format Site Supervisor versions "SMF" 2.01 through 2.07 are advised to contact Emerson Customer Service to obtain a critical security updated Small Format Feature Set File before upgrading to firmware version 2.08 or higher. To prevent loss of configuration, this updated Feature Set File is required. Please contact Emerson Customer Service to receive the critical upgrade file prior to installing version 2.08.

Affected Versions

Small Format ("SMF" or "SF") 2.01 Through 2.07

If "SMF" or "SF" 2.01 through 2.07 appears in the footer of the User Interface (UI), customers must contact Emerson Customer Service to receive a critical security update Feature Set File for Small Format prior to upgrading to version 2.08.

Diagram Description

Figure 1 illustrates the Site Supervisor Small Format (SMF) 2.07 User Interface. It indicates the location to find the model and version number. The text highlights that affected Small Format versions 2.01 through 2.07 require an updated SF Feature Set File before upgrading to 2.08 or higher. It advises customers to contact Customer Service for this file, noting that the Site Supervisor MAC address may be needed. The diagram also specifies that specific models (RX, BX, CX, SS, SR) are not affected.

Who is Affected

All Small Format models using versions 2.01 through 2.07 are affected. Other models, including Supervisor RX, BX, CX, SS, and SR, are NOT affected. Site Supervisors already upgraded to RX, BX, CX, SS, or SR are also NOT affected.

Upgrade Procedure

CAUTION: Failure to follow this procedure may result in loss of configuration.

Follow these steps before upgrading to version 2.08 or later:

On the Site Supervisor UI, identify the model and version number at the bottom right-hand corner (refer to Figure 1). If "SMF" and version number 2.01 through 2.07 are displayed, proceed with the following steps. If the model is RX, BX, CX, SS, SR, or if version 2.08 is already installed, no further steps are required.
Save a backup of the current configuration file.
Contact Emerson Customer Service.
Provide your Supervisor MAC address to receive the necessary security updated Small Format Feature Set File to install before upgrading to version 2.08.
From the File Management page, install the critical security updated Small Format Feature Set File provided by Customer Service and allow the Supervisor to restart. The system will then be ready for the update to version 2.08 or higher with the latest security updates.

NOTE: The security updated Small Format Feature Set File must be installed before upgrading to version 2.08 or higher.
