GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), a prominent global pharmaceutical company, recently hosted a significant corporate event at its London headquarters. This event, designed for both in-person attendees and a worldwide remote audience via live stream, aimed to create a visually engaging experience. Encore, an events solutions provider, partnered with lighting designer Simon Grant to enhance the event's aesthetic, focusing on delivering on-brand colors and captivating visual effects suitable for broadcast and stage presentation.
The collaboration resulted in the specification of 100 Vari-Lite VL5LED WASH luminaires. These fixtures were chosen for their high CRI RGBALC Color System and SmartColor Control, enabling a broad spectrum of vivid color options. The event utilized a six-camera setup and featured three large LED screens, supplied by Creative Technology. The production was managed by the Visual Response agency, with creative input from Toucan. The live stream was facilitated by NEP, with an OB truck on standby.
Lighting designer Simon Grant expressed his immediate confidence in the VL5LED WASH, considering it a modern evolution of the legendary VL5. He noted its ability to produce a wide range of colors, including a striking mint green, and its overall reliability. Grant emphasized the importance of fixtures not only performing well but also having a strong physical presence, a quality he found in the VL5LED WASH. The fixtures were sourced through fixture supplier Niclen UK, with project technician Alex Knowles from Encore managing the logistics efficiently, especially given the short lead time for the event.
