Apple TV: Device Setup Guide

Step #1: Getting Started with your Apple TV

If you already have your Apple TV connected to your television and are just looking to install the Wightman TV application, please skip to Step #2.

After connecting your Apple TV to your television for the first time, a welcome screen will appear. Press the [center button] on your Apple TV remote to begin and select your language preference. Specify your region and proceed for data and privacy settings.

You can choose to automatically set up your Apple TV with your iPhone ? or manually.

If you select iPhone: Follow the on-screen instructions. If you select "Set Up Manually", please jump to page 3.

Ensure your iPhone ? is close to the Apple TV.

Set Up Your Apple TV

  1. Unlock your iPhone ?, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi ? network.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth ?.
  4. Hold the device close to this Apple TV.

Use the code displayed on screen to authenticate.

You will be prompted to set a password requirement for Apple TV purchases.

Select which settings to transfer from your phone ?. Click "Continue" or "Customize Settings".

YOUR FINAL STEPS:

You are now ready to enjoy Apple TV!

Proceed to Step #2: Install Wightman TV on page 4.

If you selected “Set up Manually”, follow these steps:

Siri & Dictation

Siri assists with tasks like searching for movies, enabling closed captioning, and checking the weather. For these instructions, Siri will not be used.

Select Your Wi-Fi Network

Next, select your home Wi-Fi ? network and enter your password.

Apple ID

Enter your Apple ID and password. If you do not have an Apple ID, visit appleid.apple.com.

Apple ID Verification Code

You may need to enter an Apple ID verification code. A 6-digit code will be sent to one of your other Apple devices for verification.

You will be asked if you wish to require a password for Apple TV purchases.

YOUR FINAL STEPS:

You are now ready to enjoy Apple TV!

Step #2: Install Wightman TV

If you already own an Apple TV and are installing Wightman TV for the first time, ensure your Apple TV software is up to date.

Check or Update Software

Navigate to the settings ⚙️ app. Scroll to "System", select "Software Updates", and click "Update Software".

? TIP: Enable "Automatically Update" to keep your device current with the latest Apple software.

Install Wightman TV App

From the Apple TV home screen, navigate to the App Store ?️. If this is your first time using the App Store, click "Continue" on the welcome screen.

Search for Wightman TV

Use the top navigation bar to access the search ? function. You can use the voice button ? on your Apple TV remote to search for Wightman TV, or type it in.

Locate the Wightman TV app and press the [center button] to select. Choose "Get app".

If you are not logged into your Apple ID, sign in or create one. Your Apple ID must be connected to use this app. If you don't have an Apple ID, visit appleid.apple.com.

You will be asked to "confirm purchase" when downloading Wightman TV. This is a standard procedure for app downloads. Note that there are no additional subscription fees from Apple TV for your Wightman TV subscription.

Step #3: Log-in and start streaming!

You will be prompted to enter your login and passphrase. Use the information provided in your welcome email.

Navigate the Guide

Use the arrow buttons on your remote to navigate the guide. Press select, then "Watch" ▶️ to view a program.

Record Programs

You can also record programs by clicking "Record" ⏺️. Recording options include:

Save recordings for later viewing by signing up for Cloud DVR. Visit wightman.ca for pricing details and signup.

App Navigation

To navigate within the app, press the back button on your remote until the navigation bar appears at the top. From there, you can access the guide, recordings ⏺️, and the search ? function.

Search Function

To use the search function, press and hold the microphone ? button on the side of the remote to search for programs or channels.

Channel Navigation

To navigate to a specific channel, double-click the [center button] on the remote and enter the channel number.

You are now ready to start streaming Wightman TV!
