OVERVIEW
The Kinter K2020A+ Tripath Class T Digital Mini Amplifier quality, clean audio power to any set of stereo speakers. A built-in loudspeaker protection circuit triggers when the amplifier is turned on to protect speakers from high-volume bursts of audio. This amp is perfect for use on any desk, cOuntertop, workbench, and even in DIY projects or mobile audio applications.
Built-in mounting holes on the enclosure allow the amplifier to be attached to any surface. Use either stereo RCA or 3.5mm inputs to connect any phone, tablet, CD player, TV, or streaming player. Tone/Direct switching allows for customized listening via separate Bass and Treble adjustments or original audio source signal can be passed through without enhancement.
TRIPATH
In 1995, Dr. Adya S. Tripathi had some ideas tor improving the performance of Class-D audio power amplifiers so he started Tripath, Inc. to pursue these goals.
Class-D designs were enjoying some popularity, especially for woofer power, because of their high efficiency compared to Class-A and Class-AB. However, their total harmonic distortion (THD) was fairly high at higher audio frequencies. This was one area in which Tripath achieved significant improvement. Class is the name for our proprietary architecture that improves on general switching amps. It uses a combination o predictive and ‘adaptive procesSing. On top of that, Iripath uses a very high switching frequency
The Tripath audio amplifier looks at the incoming signal to determine the best way to encode it, making sure to minimize interference or mistakes. Then the chip uses feedback, or ‘adaptive processing to analyze the output, keeping the system stable. The high switching frequency allows it to correct any issues quickly before they become audible. Because of the robustness of the system, Tripath can maintain fidelity even with mismatches in the output field-effect transistors (FETs), power supply ripple, and other issues. Unfortunately, Tripath no longer exists today, however, Tripath assets were purchased by another larger semiconductor manufacturer and for a short time inventory on some particular Tripath ICs still exists.
Important Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel. To reduce the risk of fire and shock do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. The unit should be connected to an earth-grounded AC electrical socket. The unit should be operated in a well-ventilated area. Minimum clearance is 2 inches from the ventilation openings.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is it just mine or does the power supply not seem to plug in all the way, it works but it’s sloppy?
Mine didn’t plug up either, I was going to replace it. I notice it’s not 12V 5A. It’s 125V I hope it didn’t blow it up. I put Netgear 12V5A. & lite came on. - Do they ship from China or USA?
This amplifier is shipped from the USA from AMAZON warehouses. - Is this Bridgeable?
No, this amplifier is not bridgeable. - Will 14 gauge wire fit fine with this?
Don’t know how heavy 14 gauge is, but I use heavy lamp wire to my speakers, and no problem. - Can this amp work with the Micca MB42x?
It would work but I wouldn’t recommend it. Your speakers are rated much higher than the amp can put out. So you’re going to get a percentage of what they are capable of. - I have an old turn table and stereo and can’t get any volume beyond a whisper. I have been told I need an amp. advice, please?
You simply need to add a PREAMP (also known as a Preamplifier) to your Kinter amplifier. This is a common need when you use an older turntable to play vinyl as the audio source. - Can I run a turntable through this into small Bose bookshelf speakers?
If the turntable has a built-in PreAmp you can run the output of the turntable (usually Left and Right RCA) directly into the K2020A+. If your turnable does not have a built in turntable, you should put one between the amplifier and the turntable. - Will this overheat if enclosed in a small speaker housing?
I doubt it. I leave mine on all the time and it doesn’t even get warm. I don’t, however, play it at a loud volume. - Can it be used to amplify sounds from RCA tv?
If the TV has RCA output or a 3.5mm ANALOG output you can run that output into the amplifier’s inputs. You may have to adjust the TV’s audio menu to turn off the speaker on the TV. If you need any additional help feel free to contact us anytime. - Will this support a sub-woofer?
You absolutely can use a sub with it, but the subwoofer needs to be powered and built for that type of setup. Will it power a subwoofer? No. Will it support a subwoofer? Yes. Check out the Polk PSW10 and look at the images. The rear of the sub box has both R and L inputs and outputs for speakers. From music to speakers, the connection goes from audio output > DAC (if needed) > amp > sub > speakers. The subwoofer I posted has a low bypass filter that you can adjust in order to get the ideal sound. Check out the YouTube video called “Audiophile Speaker 2.1 setup for under $250” which explains it. That was the best explanation I could find for how you’d setup a quality yet affordable system and it’s basically the exact route I took - The power plug provided cant go in fully. what could be the issue?
As long as the unit is making full contact with the center tip (the inner hole) and the ground is touching on the inside jack and the unit powers on you should be absolutely fine. The outer barrel is ground and does not present any problem at all. Always make sure you do have the plug inserted prior to inserting the AC cord into the wall outlet. - There is exposed metal since the power plug cant go in fully, is the seller sure it is ok?
Just to be certain, contact Kinter at the website, and send them a picture of the plug as it is inserted into the amplifier. The metal is GROUND, it carries no voltage or current. But still contact KINTER at the website.
