Opticon OPN-3102i Quick Start Guide
Device Overview
The Opticon OPN-3102i is a compact Bluetooth barcode scanner. Key components include:
- 2D Imager: Scans 1D and 2D barcodes.
- Feedback LED: Provides visual feedback on scanning status.
- Trigger Key: Initiates scanning.
- Feedback Buzzer: Provides audible feedback.
- Clear/Function Key: Used for various functions, including pairing and disconnecting.
- USB Connector (Data/Charging): For charging and data transfer.
Bluetooth Mode Setup
To connect the OPN-3102i to your host device, follow these steps:
- Step 1 - Scan Bluetooth Mode: Scan the appropriate Bluetooth Default barcode for your desired connection method. Recommended modes are HID (Keyboard emulation) or HID for iOS. HID for iOS allows the onscreen keyboard to be toggled with the function key. SPP or SPP for iOS modes require a specific application on the target device.
- Step 2 - Initiate Pairing: Hold the function key for 5 seconds until the device beeps and the indicator light flashes blue. The OPN-3102i is now discoverable. This can be cancelled by holding the function key for another 5 seconds.
- Step 3 - Perform Bluetooth Search on Host: On your host device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, computer), use the Bluetooth interface to search for and select the OPN-3102i. The scanner will beep to confirm a successful or failed pairing.
For SPP or Apple MFi pairing, launch an appropriate application (like OPNTerm for iDevices) after pairing to establish the serial port connection. If your host device does not support Simple Pairing, you may need to use a PIN code via specific barcodes.
Bluetooth Disconnect / Reconnect
- To disconnect an active Bluetooth connection, hold the trigger key for 5 seconds.
- To reconnect, hold the trigger key for 5 seconds. Any scanned data will be automatically transmitted once reconnected.
