Terms of Warranty
1) General Liability
Davis & Shirtliff's liability for any defect or failure of supplied equipment, or for any loss, injury, or damage, is limited to repairing or replacing defective items under proper use within a specified period. This period begins after dispatch or installation. The warranty excludes defects caused by fair wear and tear, careless handling, improper installation, lack of maintenance, acts of God, or unauthorized repairs.
2) New Equipment
2.1 General Terms
Standard warranty periods for all named products are detailed in the schedule below, subject to specific terms. Consumables are not covered. Components are covered individually. Warranty is void if payments are not fully settled.

2.2 Specific Terms
Warranty for equipment installed by others is conditional on the defective unit being returned to the Davis & Shirtliff Workshop. Site repair costs are not included. Any site attendance will be charged at standard rates.
3) Contributory Warranty
For equipment failures within the specified duty limits, warranty is provided as detailed in section 2.1. For items under 'full warranty', Davis & Shirtliff will repair or replace at no cost. For failures outside the 'full warranty' period but within the overall warranty, customers contribute 50% of the repair or replacement cost, based on the prevailing market price.
Exclusions and additional details:
a) PV Modules
- Up to Ten years: Panel replaced at no charge for quality issues (including frame, cable, junction box).
- Up to Twenty-Five years: Panel replaced at 50% of prevailing price, based on 80% of power output.
- Note: Breakages during transport/installation and damage to junction boxes due to incorrect wiring or lightning are not covered.
b) Huawei Inverters
Standard warranty for Huawei SUN2000 Series can be extended by 5, 10, or 15 years at an additional cost.
c) Dayliff Reverse Osmosis (BRO/DRO) and Dayliff Ultrafiltration (BUF/DUF) Plants
Standard warranty is one year from invoice date. An operator's log demonstrating regular use of Dayliff Antiscalant Chemicals is required. Warranty does not cover issues arising from the use of chemicals other than those specified or improper plant operations.
d) Solar Structure and SunTower
Standard one-year warranty covers material defects and workmanship, subject to environmental conditions. For wind speeds above 30m/s, wind breakers are required. For steep gradients, ground leveling arrangements are the client's responsibility.
e) Engines and Generators
Standard warranty for fixed speed Engines and Generators is two years or 1,200 running hours (whichever comes first). Outboard Engines have a warranty of 1 year or 1,000 running hours. A maintenance chart is required. Warranty excludes issues from incorrect mounting or storage.
f) Dayliff Pump Sets
Warranty applies to individual components.
g) Electric Motors and Power Equipment
Warranty on new electric motors is detailed in table 2.1. Conditions include: approved control panel with overload protection; for three-phase submersible installations, high/low voltage and phase control relay; for motors above 7.5kW, monitoring device (iDayliff, MP204); permanent fixed electrical connections; operation within specified voltage, frequency, and phase limits. Motor warranty is equivalent to the named product's warranty if shorter than two years.
h) Water Pumps
Pumps are designed for clean, cold water (up to 30°C). Warranty is void if pumped water does not conform to this condition, unless specified otherwise. Damage from running dry or improper installation is excluded.
i) Digital Engineering Solutions
Standard warranty for software deployment (IoT, BMS, SCADA, PLC, HMI) is three months from practical completion. This excludes changes/additions to new features. Costs for software upgrades, updates, and reinstatations are billed separately. Equipment must be operated within design conditions. Incorrect installation or use not according to the manual is not covered.
j) Theft of Equipment
Stolen equipment is not covered. Clients are responsible for site security.
4) Equipment Repairs
Repaired equipment has a three-month warranty from collection/installation, provided the claim is due to a defect in the spare part. Failures caused by unrepaired components are excluded. Warranty on re-wound motors is one month if re-installed by Davis & Shirtliff, and no warranty is provided if re-installed by others.
5) New Installations
New installations have a six-month warranty from commissioning, excluding named products. Defects from faulty design, materials, or workmanship are rectified free of charge. If a defect is due to faulty operation, lack of maintenance, or carelessness, all charges will apply. After the six-month period, labor and transport charges apply for all subsequent warranty repairs.
6) Proof of Purchase
The original invoice is required for warranty repair or replacement approval.
