RDS Operations
What you can do with RDS
RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send additional information along with regular programme signals, such as station names and programme types (sports, music, etc.).
The "Enhanced Other Networks" feature allows you to tune into different network stations broadcasting your favorite programme or traffic announcements while listening to another source like a CD.
RDS Functions:
- Tracing the same programme automatically (Network-Tracking Reception)
- Standby Reception of TA (Traffic Announcement) or your favorite programme
- PTY (Programme Type) search
- Programme search
- Other functions
Tracing the same programme automatically (Network-Tracking Reception)
When driving in areas with poor FM reception, the tuner automatically tunes into another RDS station broadcasting the same programme with a stronger signal, ensuring continuous listening.
This function uses PI (Programme Identification) and AF (Alternative Frequency) data. Network-Tracking Reception will not operate if this data is not received correctly.
Network-Tracking Reception Modes:
Press and hold the [TP RDS] button for more than 1 second to cycle through modes:
- Mode 1: [AF] indicator lights up, [REG] indicator is off. Network-Tracking Reception is activated with Regionalization set to "off." Switches to another station within the same network when signals weaken. The programme may differ slightly from the one currently received.
- Mode 2: Both [AF] and [REG] indicators light up. Network-Tracking Reception is activated with Regionalization set to "on." Switches to another station within the same network when signals weaken.
- Mode 3: Neither [AF] nor [REG] indicators light up. Network-Tracking Reception is deactivated.
Using Standby Reception
Standby Reception allows the unit to temporarily switch to your favorite programme (PTY) or Traffic Announcement (TA) from the current source (another FM station or CD). This function does not work when listening to an AM station.
