1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing our product. Below, we will show you what you need to bear in mind when commissioning and using the product.

Should you encounter any unexpected problems during use, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The ZYPDS USB-PD trigger module is a particularly compact and practical auxiliary module for voltage requests from USB-C power supplies. It enables the targeted request of a specific output voltage via the USB Power Delivery protocol and is ideal for test setups, in-house developments or laboratory applications.

The module is set to 5 V as default. By specifically removing one or two resistors, the output voltage can be changed to 9 V or 12 V. This permanent configuration via solder adjustment is particularly suitable for applications that require a fixed, stable output voltage.

The input is via a USB-C socket and the output via solder pads, so that the desired voltage can be used directly. Thanks to its small size, the ZYPDS module can be easily integrated into compact projects or used as a measurement and development adapter.

ℹ️ The module requires a USB-C PD power supply that supports the desired output voltage. It is not a voltage converter, but merely a trigger module that requests the selected voltage from the PD power supply.

2. DEVICE OVERVIEW

The USB-PD trigger module features a USB-C input for power and solder pads for output. The input is labeled "USB-PD voltage input". The outputs are labeled "Output -" and "Output +".

3. OPERATION

Connect your USB-PD trigger module to an USB PD-compatible power supply. This module provides you with three voltage modes. The mode can be changed by soldering the resistors.

There are 2 different Boarddesigns of this module. Please compare the layout of your module with the pictures below to see which modifications are needed for your module.

Layout 1

When both resistors are soldered in, the output voltage is 5 V.

If the resistor on the left side of the circuit board is soldered in place (USB-C facing upwards), the output voltage is also 5 V.

If the resistor on the board is soldered firmly on the right (USB-C facing upwards), the output voltage is 12 V.

If no resistor is connected, the output voltage is 9 V.

The 15 V and 20 V voltage modes cannot be achieved with this module. Instead, you can use our COM-ZYPDS, which is specifically designed for 15 V and 20 V, rather than 9 V and 12 V like the COM-ZYPDS-02.

Layout 1 Resistor Configurations:
  • Both resistors soldered: 5V output.
  • Left resistor soldered: 5V output.
  • Right resistor soldered: 12V output.
  • No resistor soldered: 9V output.

Layout 2

The second layout's default voltage is also 5 V.

To change it to 9 V, you unbridge / disolder both C3 & C4.

To change it to 12 V, you just have to remove the solderbridge C3.

Layout 2 Solderbridge Configurations:
  • Default C3 & C4 set: 5V output.
  • Remove C3 & C4: 9V output.
  • Remove C3: 12V output.

6. INFORMATION AND TAKE-BACK OBLIGATIONS

Our information and take-back obligations under the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
