Operating Your Range
Surface Burner Ignition
WARNING: Fire Hazard. Ensure burner flames do not extend beyond cookware. Turn off controls when not cooking. Failure to comply can result in death or fire.
Electric igniters automatically light surface burners when knobs are turned to (LITE). Always place filled cookware on the grate before igniting. Do not operate with empty cookware or no cookware.
Ignition Procedure:
- Push in and turn the control knob counterclockwise to (LITE). All burners will click; only the selected burner ignites.
- Turn the knob to the desired setting (High to Low).
Note: Visually confirm burner ignition. If ignition fails, turn off the burner, check circuit breakers/fuses, and ensure the knob is properly seated. Contact a qualified repair specialist if problems persist.
Caution: The entire cooktop area can become hot during use or self-cleaning cycles.
Power Failure Operation
During a prolonged power outage, surface burners can be lit manually. Hold a lit match near the burner, turn the knob counterclockwise to (LITE). Once lit, turn the knob to the desired setting.
Aluminum Foil Usage Guidelines
- IMPORTANT: Do not line the oven bottom with foil to prevent permanent finish damage.
- Do not cover the entire oven rack with foil; ensure air can circulate freely for optimal cooking.
- IMPORTANT: Prevent aluminum foil and meat probes from touching heating elements.
Rack and Bakeware Positioning
IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the porcelain finish, do not place food or bakeware directly on the oven door or bottom.
- Position racks before turning on the oven.
- Ensure racks are level.
To move a rack: Pull it out to the stop position, raise the front edge, and lift it out.
Burner Size Selection
Choose a burner size that best fits your cookware. The guide illustrates burner placement (front/back) and size categories (Small, Large, Extra-Large, Oval) with recommended uses. Use smaller burners for low-heat tasks like melting, and larger burners for larger pots and pans. The oval burner is suitable for longer dishes or griddles. The largest burner offers the most power.
Oven Vent Information
The oven vent releases hot air and moisture. Keep it unobstructed to ensure proper air circulation, which is crucial for cooking and cleaning performance. Avoid placing plastic, paper, or other meltable/flammable items near the vent.
Diagram Description: The oven vent is indicated by 'A'.
Oven Light Bulb Replacement
The oven uses a 40W halogen bulb. Ensure the oven and cooktop are cool and all controls are in the Off position before replacement.
- Disconnect power to the appliance.
- Turn the glass bulb cover counterclockwise to remove it.
- Carefully remove the old bulb.
- Install the new bulb, handling it with tissue or cotton gloves to prevent damage or reduced lifespan. Avoid touching the bulb with bare fingers.
- Replace the bulb cover by turning it clockwise.
- Reconnect power.
IMPORTANT: Do not use bulbs exceeding 40W.
