Introduction

This guide provides essential steps for setting up and using your RØDE VideoMic NTG on-camera shotgun microphone.

Setup and Connection Steps

  1. Step 1: Microphone and shock mount shown.

  2. Step 2: Microphone attached to shock mount.

  3. Step 3: Shock mount attached to camera shoe.

  4. Step 4: Microphone connected to camera via TRS cable.

  5. Step 5: Microphone connected to smartphone via TRRS cable.

  6. Step 6: Headphones connected to microphone for monitoring.

  7. Step 7: Microphone connected to camera, headphones monitoring.

  8. Step 8: Microphone connected to smartphone, headphones monitoring.

  9. Step 9: Microphone controls: power/battery indicator, gain dial, low-cut switch.

  10. Step 10: Gain control adjustment (-14dB, -20dB).

  11. Step 11: Low-cut filter adjustment (75Hz, 150Hz).

  12. Step 12: Output mode selection (TRS/TRRS).

  13. Step 13: Microphone with foam windshield.

  14. Step 14: Microphone with furry windshield.

  15. Step 15: Microphone in carrying pouch.
