Placement
Decide where to mount your access point(s). You may need to experiment to determine optimal placement; if so, connect the access point for service. Selecting a location The access point 's signal is omnidirectional. n If you use only one access point, place it as close as possible to the center of the
desired coverage area. n If you use more than one access point, place them close enough to each other that the
client device has a good connection to one, and also sees the next-closest one. You have good coverage with signal strength of -60 to -70 dBm at the midway point between overlapping access points.
Pro tip Don't guess about placement. Install a Wi-Fi signal analyzer app on your phone and do a site survey. Mounting You can place the access point on a flat surface such as a desk, or mount it to a wall or ceiling. The back plate will get warm; the mounting bracket provides air flow to ensure that it does not overheat. If placing the access point on a flat surface: Slide the mounting bracket onto the back of the access point.
If mounting the access point to a wall or hard ceiling: 1. Route the network cable. 2. Attach the mounting bracket to an existing 2-gang electrical box using the screws
supplied with the box, or mount it directly to the ceiling or wall using the included drywall anchors and #6 x 1 in. (3.5 mm x 25.4 mm) screws. 3. Connect the cable to the access point. 4. Slide the access point onto the mounting bracket.

AP-3064Wi-Fi 6 AX3600 Dual-Band 4x4 Indoor Access Point Quick Installation Guide If mounting the access point to a suspended tile ceiling: Note All above-ceiling work must conform to local building codes and should be performed by qualified personnel. 1. Route the network cable. 2. Select the two mounting clips that fit the ceiling tile rails. 3. Optional: Place the extenders between the clips and the back plate of the access
point. 4. Attach the two clips (and extenders, if used) to the access point using the appropriate
screws. 5. Connect the cable to the access point. 6. Snap the access point onto the ceiling tile rail.
Connections for service
Connect the access point to a PoE+ switch or a PoE+ power injector that is connected to the network. Note PoE type connections are for use only within a single building. Do not connect PoE powered equipment to lines that run outside of the building. Note Luxul recommends at least Cat-5e unshielded twisted pair (CAT5e UTP) cabling. To ensure best performance at 1000 Mbps, use CAT6 UTP. n Use high-quality connectors and a high-quality crimping tool. n Pro tip: Label all cables at both ends.
If you use a PoE+ power injector: 1. Connect the Data In port to an Ethernet cable from your router or switch. 2. Connect the Data & PWR Out port to the Ethernet cable that
connects to the access point. 3. When you are ready to power the access point, connect the PoE+
power injector's power cord to the power connector and then to the AC outlet.

Configuring the access point
You will need to do these things before you can use the access point: n Open the admin interface n Configure the device's SSID and preshared key n Optional: Assign a new hostname n Check for firmware updates Discovering the device's IP address In a DHCP network, devices automatically receive IP addresses. If the network does not automatically assign IP addresses (static addressing), check the label on the bottom of the device for the IP: DHCP Failover address. This is the default IP address that it uses if it does not automatically receive one. If you have only one access point and your network uses static addresses in the 192.168.0.x range, you do not need to change the access point's IP address. Find the IP address in the router's client list: 1. Open the router's admin interface. 2. Open the client list. On a Luxul router, this is on the Status > Connected Clients page. 3. Locate the access point by its hostname, and use the IP address listed. Luxul devices'
default hostnames are formed from the model name and the last three octets of the MAC address for example, AP-3064-xxxxxx. Accessing the admin interface 1. In a web browser, go to the device's IP address. 2. If the device has not been in service already, log in as admin, with the password admin. You will be required to change the password. You only need to do this the first time you log in, or after restoring factory defaults. If the device has been in service, log in as admin, with the current password. Note When you make changes in the admin interface, always select Save before going to a different page. Then select Continue if you have more changes to make, or select Apply. When you apply your changes, the device reboots and is unavailable for about 60 seconds.

Configuring wireless settings The admin interface lets you configure a 2.4 GHz network and a 5 GHz network on the Quick Setup page. You may want to do this if you want to keep your smart home devices on their own network, or if you want to set up a guest network that's separate from your main network. After you make changes on this page, save your changes and continue, or apply the changes and wait for the device to reboot. You will need to change these items: n SSID1 This is the Wi-Fi network name.
o If you set up 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks on this access point, give them names that tell you which is which.
o Give all access points on each network the same name and preshared key. Your Wi-Fi devices will automatically connect to the access point with the strongest signal.
n Preshared Key This is the passphrase. For each network, make it the same on all access points.
In most cases, you can leave the other settings at their default values. Refer to the help text in the admin interface for guidance on making changes.
Changing the hostname If you have more than one access point, consider giving each one a hostname that helps to identify its location, such as AP3064-kitchen. Each device on the network must have a unique hostname, just as it must have a unique IP address. Set the hostname on the Quick Setup page. Save your changes and continue, or apply the changes and wait for the device to reboot.

Updating firmware 1. In the admin interface, go to Advanced > Update Firmware. 2. Select the firmware location. Normally, Auto is preferred, as it compares the device's
current firmware with the latest version available in the specified repository. If necessary, download the firmware to your computer from legrandav.com/resources/firmware-updates/luxul-firmware and select "a file on your PC" as the location. 3. If you selected Auto, select the Release firmware repository unless you have been directed to do otherwise by Luxul staff. Then select Check. 4. If the Server Firmware Version field shows a later version than the Current Firmware Version field, select Install. The firmware updates and the access point reboots. The access point does not provide connectivity during the update. Devices automatically reconnect after the access point reboots.
You're all done!
