Frequently Asked Questions

Can I charge the goal zero guide 10 plus battery charger connecting it to the rock out2 solar speaker output?

The answer is yes but the solar panel on the rock out is tiny. There is a built-in battery so it would put a charge in your guide 10 but it won’t put a good charge in. It’s really to charge the battery and your mp3 player.

Is the goal zero rock out 2 solar rechargeable speakers compatible with all android phones?

Yes, if connected to Bluetooth. The direct connection inside the case may require an adapter but works for my Motorola phone. I do not know about all android phones.

Can I connect my Classic iPod to the rock out 2?

Hi Hiram, you can connect the Rock Out 2 to any item with a standard headphone jack using the included cable.

Will the speaker play while solar charging? Or would constant input/ output degrade the battery?

Yes, the Rock out 2 solars can be playing music while it is recharging in the sun! This would not have a negative effect on the battery.

How does the sound compare to the Rock Out 2 without the solar panel and Bluetooth?

other Blue tooth speakers are much better than RO2, for quality sound, but it has a decent sound and volume. Great for camping

I’m looking for a speaker that will also charge my phone, will this device charge my phone?

No, this speaker does not give charge to other devices.

How long does this speaker need to solar charge to full capacity?

It would take around 8 hours to charge the speaker from its own Solar Panel.

Will this hold a Samsung galaxy note 4? it doesn’t look like it would.

You are correct. Internally there is not enough space, however, you can hold it securely with the bungee cables externally to the speaker unit.

My USB broke off for charging. is there a way to fix it?

The first one I broke somehow involved the sound/volume. I called the company and they replaced it. I don’t think they do any repairs. If you have a receipt and date of purchase they may also do the same. I had to send a photo of the unit with the wires cut and they just sent a whole new one. It’s worth a try.

Will this hold the standard iPhone 6?

You have 2 options. The first is to pair it using Bluetooth when you can put your iPhone anywhere and use the buttons on the speaker to control the music. The iPhone will fit inside the back where there is a little pocket to take it, where you can also use the jack plug to connect, which will use less battery but the front controls won’t work

Will this speaker be compatible with my pixel phone?

Yep, I use a pixel phone with it and it works perfectly.

I don’t have a Bluetooth device; does this come with a USB cord?

This is not a Bluetooth device. There is a usb cable to charge the device (if you don’t want to wait on solar power) and an audio cable to hook in where headphones connect to your music device.

Is the sound quality the same as the old rock out 2 without Bluetooth? Do some people complain of a hiss?

no hiss were noted. some distortion at the top volume, but overall pretty good sound

What’s the difference between 94013 and 94014 models on goal zero rock out 2?

The only difference between the Rockout 2 Solar SKU: 94013 vs Sku 94014 is the color. SKU 94013 is the Black Rockout, and Sku 94014 is the Green Rockout.

Will this hold an iPhone 6 Plus in the inside storage space?

No

I just got my Goal Zero 2 and it doesn’t charge is the battery dead how long to full charge? New in box..or i send it back?

If the battery is completely dead just leave it plugged in overnight and see if that will do it. You’re using the provided USB cable, correct? If mine was totally dead, it would take several hours to recharge, but I would start seeing the blinking charging lights after it had been plugged in for a little while. Completely dead it might take a little bit for it to “wake up”.

Why are different colors at different prices?

There is no difference. Just demand

Why would it not have a light on saying it is charging?

The Goal Zero Rock Out 2 has LED charge indicators. If the LED charge indicators are not on while you are attempting to charge or you cant turn it on, the internal battery is likely dead.
