Frame Overview

Front View

The front of the frame displays a digital photo. It features a screen surrounded by a black bezel.

Back View

The back of the frame includes the following features:

  • Speaker: For audio output.
  • Switch Button: Likely a power or function button.
  • Stand: For propping the frame up.
  • Wall hanging hole: For mounting the frame on a wall.
  • Ports: Labeled 1 through 5.

Important Note & Specifications

Important Notes:

  • Hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds to turn the frame on.
  • Allow about 1 minute for the frame to start up and complete initial settings.
  • Ensure the power supply remains connected while the frame is in use.
  • Photos can be displayed directly from an SD card or USB flash drive, or imported into the frame.
  • Storage capacity specifications refer to unformatted capacity; actual usable capacity will be less.

Initial Setup

When setting up your frame for the first time, follow these steps:

  • Select the desired language for the frame's interface.
  • Connect your frame to a 2.4G/5G Hz Wi-Fi network.
  • Set the correct time zone, date, and time.
  • The frame may prompt for a software update; updating is recommended before proceeding.
  • Enter your name and the location of the frame (e.g., "John Wilson", "Living room", "Kitchen", "Office").

Video Tutorials: Search for "Frameo tutorials" on YouTube to find guides on getting started with Frameo. A link to the playlist is available via a web link.

Start Using Frameo

To send photos to the frame, you need to connect it using the free Frameo App, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Connection Steps:

  1. Ensure the Frameo app is downloaded and installed on your mobile device.
  2. On the frame, tap the ? [add friend] icon. A dialog will appear with a connection code, valid for 12 hours.
  3. Open the Frameo app on your phone, tap the [+] icon (usually in the top right corner), and enter the code from the frame. Your app is now connected.
  4. Share this code with family and friends. Once they add the code in their Frameo app, they will appear on your frame and can send you photos.

Sharing Photos & Videos

After connecting your frame to the mobile app, you can select and share photos and videos. You can send up to 10 photos at a time or one short video (up to 15 seconds).

  • Photo Share: Select pictures, choose photo frames, edit pictures (adjust focus, name photos), then send.
  • Video Share: Select one video, choose a photo frame, edit video (length, naming), then send.
  • You can check the status of sent photos/videos in the sending history.

The Frameo app interface allows you to:

  • Take a photo or video, or select one or more from your albums.
  • Choose one or more frames to send to.
  • Write a caption to accompany the photo or video.

Quick Navigating Your Frame

Access the quick menu by tapping the screen once. The menu provides access to frequently used features:

  • ? [add friend]: Generates a code to share with friends and family for connection.
  • ⚙️ [settings]: Opens the frame's settings menu.
  • ? [power menu]: Accesses power options for the frame.
  • ? [react]: Opens the reaction menu; can also be accessed by double-tapping the screen.
  • ? [hide photo]: Hides the current photo from the slideshow. Hidden photos can be shown again via the settings menu.
  • ?️ [gallery]: Displays all photos and videos stored on the frame.
  • ? [fit/fill frame]: Toggles how photos are displayed (Fit to frame or Fill frame).

Frame Display Modes:

  • Fill frame (default): The photo is scaled to fill the entire screen, centered on the most important part.
  • Fit to frame: Ensures the entire photo is visible on the screen, potentially adding borders.

Adjust Photo:

This feature allows you to adjust the photo's position for a better fit, rotate the photo, and edit captions for imported photos. For received photos, captions must be edited by the sender via the Frameo app.

Settings

My frame

  • Frame name: Changes the name displayed in the app for connected friends.
  • Frame location: Sets the location displayed for the frame, helping distinguish it from others.
  • Set language: Selects the language used on the frame.
  • Date: Sets the current date.
  • Time: Sets the current time. The frame attempts to auto-sync time when connected to the internet.
  • Time zone: Sets the applicable time zone.
  • Set first day of week: Selects the starting day of the week.
  • Use 24-hour format: Toggles between 12-hour and 24-hour time display.

Manage photos

  • View the number of photos on the frame and storage usage, including available space for new photos.
  • Show/hide photos: Tap photos to hide them from the slideshow. Hidden photos are not deleted and can be shown again. Use the ?️ [show/hide] icon to toggle visibility for all photos.
  • Delete photos: Select photos to permanently delete them. Use the ☑️ [select/deselect all] and ?️ [delete] icons to manage selections and deletions.
  • Import photos: Import photos from an SD card or USB flash disk. Videos cannot be imported from external storage.
  • Export photos: Export all photos and profile pictures from the frame to external storage (e.g., SD card).
  • Play from external storage: Enable or disable direct playback of photos and videos from external storage without using the frame's internal space.

My friends

  • This list shows all connected friends authorized to send photos to your frame.
  • Change options for a friend: Tap the ⚙️ [options] icon to access friend settings. Here you can allow or disallow a friend to share the connection code. You can also delete a friend by pressing the ?️ [delete friend] button, removing their permission to send photos.
  • Add person: Tap the ? [add friend] button and share the displayed code to allow a new person to send you photos.

Display

  • Brightness level: Adjust the screen brightness.
  • Sleep mode: Turns off the screen to conserve power. Default settings turn off the screen at 23:00 and on at 07:00. These times can be adjusted. The frame remains powered on and can still receive photos during sleep mode.

Slideshow

  • Timer: Set the duration each photo is displayed before the next one appears.
  • Show caption: Choose whether to display captions sent with photos.
  • Fill frame: Sets the default photo display to fill the screen, cropping to the most important part. Unchecking this option allows the photo to fit within the screen borders.
  • Frame background: Select background options (e.g., bars) for photos that do not fill the screen.
  • Photo display order: Sets the order in which photos are displayed.
  • Reverse photo display order: Reverses the display order (newest to oldest or oldest to newest).
  • Autoplay: Enables or disables automatic playback of videos within the slideshow. Videos can be manually started at any time.
  • Video playback: Determines how videos are played when autoplay is enabled.
  • Automute: Automatically mutes video volume after a period of inactivity.

Wi-Fi

Select the Wi-Fi network the frame connects to. If connecting to a network with a captive portal, a message will indicate that Wi-Fi login is required. Tap the ? [Wi-Fi login] icon to open the login screen.

Notifications

Configure notifications for various items and adjust notification volume.

Backup and Restore

  • Backup frame to external storage (e.g., SD card): Creates a backup of your photos, friends, and settings. The time of the latest successful backup is displayed. Existing backups on the storage device will be overwritten.
  • Automatic backup: If enabled, the frame automatically backs up within 30 hours of receiving new photos or making changes.
  • Restore from backup: Before restoring, confirm the backup is up-to-date. If the last backup is old or none exists, use the "Backup frame to external storage" option to create a new one.
  • Reset frame: Permanently removes all data, including photos, videos, friends, connections, and settings.

Help & About

  • Open source libraries: Displays a list of open-source libraries used in the app and their licenses.
  • Share anonymous analytics data: An option to help improve the Frameo software by sharing usage data. Uncheck this option to deny data sharing.
  • Guide: Opens the quick start guide that was initially shown when the frame was first started.
  • About: Provides version and system information about the frame.
