TP 08 remote-control unit

Appliance concept

  • The TP 08 remote-control unit is a wireless remote control, for use in rod-electrode (MMA) welding only. The welding current and arc-force dynamic can be read off – and altered – directly from the welding workplace. This remote-control unit stands out mainly for its compact dimensions and low weight.

System requirements

The TP 08 remote-control unit can be used in conjunction with the following power sources, from software version 2.81.1 upward:

  • TransSynergic 4000 C / 5000 C
  • Transpuls Synergic 2700 /4000 / 5000
  • TransPocket 4000 CEL / 5000 CEL

Safety

  • WARNING!

Description of control panel and connections

Fronius-TP-08-Remote-Control-Unit-FIG- (1)

  1. Display indicates the actual value of the “Welding current” or “Arc-force dynamic” parameter.
  2. Welding current parameter
  3. Arc-force dynamic parameter
  4. “ – ” button decreases the value of the selected parameter
  5. Parameter selection button for selecting either the “Welding current” or “Arcforce dynamic” parameter
  6. “ + ” button increases the value of the selected parameter
  7. Contact screws for clamping the electrode holder onto the workpiece
  8. Pin for electrode holder for placing down onto the workpiece

IMPORTANT! While making the settings, always ensure that there is a solid, firm connection between the workpiece and the two contact screws.

How to operate; mode of functioning

  1. Select the rod-electrode (MMA) welding process on the power source
  2. Attach the earth clamp to the workpiece
  3. Clamp the electrode holder onto the pin (A) on the remote-control unit
  4. Place the remote-control unit down on the workpiece in such a way that there is a solid, firm connection between the workpiece and the two contacts (B)
  5. Use the parameter selection button (5) to select either the “Welding current” or “Arc-force dynamic” parameter
  6. Set the desired value with either the “-” button (4) or the “+” button (6)
  7. Once the settings have been made, the welding voltage is switched to the welding sockets, after a 3-second time-lag. The TP 08 remote-control unit is then supplied with welding voltage, and the display (1) lights up

IMPORTANT! If the TP 08 remote-control unit has been connected up since the power source was last switched on, it is only possible to set the amperage and arc-force dynamic on the TP 08 remote-control unit.
To make it possible to set the amperage and the arc-force dynamic from the power source once again, as well as from other system add-ons:

  1. Disconnect the TP 08 remote-control unit
  2. Switch off the power source, then switch it back on again

Troubleshooting

As long as a service code is displayed on the power source or on any other system add-on (see the Operating Instructions manual for the power source), the TP 08 remote control unit will be out of action. Irrespective of these service codes, the following service codes may be displayed on the TP 08 remote-control unit:

-OFF-

  • Cause: poor contact with the workpiece
  • Remedy: create a solid, firm connection to the workpiece

-E62–

  • Cause: Overtemperature on the TP 08 remote-control unit
  • Remedy: Allow the TP 08 to cool down
