2-3 Installing the CPU and CPU Cooler
A. Note the CPU Orientation: Align the CPU's triangle pin one marking or notches with the corresponding markings on the AM5 CPU Socket.
B. Installing the CPU:
- Gently press the CPU socket lever handle down and away, then lift the locking lever.
- Hold the CPU by its edges, align it with the socket's pin one marking or notches, and gently insert it.
- Close the load plate and secure the socket lever. The protective cover will detach automatically.
⚠ Do not force the CPU socket locking lever if the CPU is not installed correctly, as this can damage the CPU and socket.
C. Installing the CPU Cooler:
- Apply an even, thin layer of thermal grease on the CPU surface.
- Type A Cooler: Hook the CPU cooler clip to the mounting lug, then push the other side to secure. Turn the cam handle to lock.
- Type B Cooler: Remove the CPU retention frame. Align the cooler's shoulder screws with the back plate standoffs and fasten them in a 1-2-3-4 pattern.
- Connect the CPU cooler's power connector to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
⚠ When using a Type B CPU cooler, fasten screws in a 1-2-3-4 rotation pattern to ensure even pressure.
2-4 Installing the Memory
Guidelines:
- Ensure the motherboard supports the memory. It is recommended to use memory modules of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips. Refer to GIGABYTE's website for supported memory specifications.
- Always turn off and unplug the computer before installing memory.
- Memory modules are keyed for one-way installation. If it doesn't fit, try rotating it.
- When installing memory modules, prioritize the DDR5_A2 socket first.
Recommended Memory Configurations:
Configuration | DDR5_A1 | DDR5_A2 | DDR5_B1 | DDR5_B2 |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 Module | - | ✓ | - | - |
2 Modules* | - | ✓ | - | ✓ |
4 Modules* | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
(✓ = Installed, - = No Memory; * = Recommended Dual Channel Configurations)
Dual Channel Memory Configuration: This motherboard supports Dual Channel Technology, which doubles memory bandwidth. The four sockets are divided into two channels (Channel A: DDR5_A1, DDR5_A2; Channel B: DDR5_B1, DDR5_B2). Dual Channel mode requires at least two memory modules. For optimal performance with two or four modules, use identical capacity, brand, speed, and chips.
