4. Installation

4.1 Alimentation du point d'accès

The Ruckus R510 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) via an 802.3af compliant source. This is the recommended method for power delivery.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or a PoE injector to the PoE-capable Ethernet port on the R510.
  2. Ensure the PoE source is powered on. The PWR LED on the R510 will illuminate when power is successfully supplied.

Alternatively, a 12V DC power adapter (not included) can be used if PoE is not available.

4.2 Initial Configuration (Unleashed Mode)

The Ruckus R510 Unleashed operates without a dedicated hardware controller, using a master AP for management. Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Connect to the Default SSID: Once powered on, the R510 will broadcast a default Wi-Fi network (SSID) such as 'Configure.Me-[xxxxxx]'. Connect to this network from a computer or mobile device.
  2. Accéder au Web Interface: Ouvrir un web navigateur et accédez à http://unleashed.ruckuswireless.com or the IP address 192.168.1.1.
  3. Suivez l'assistant d'installation : The Unleashed setup wizard will guide you through creating an administrator account, configuring your Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs), and setting up basic network parameters.
  4. Appliquer les paramètres : Save your configurations. The access point will reboot to apply the new settings.

5. Fonctionnement

5.1 Accès à l'interface de gestion

After initial setup, you can access the R510's web-based management interface using the IP address assigned to it or the Unleashed domain name.

  • Ensure your device is connected to a network managed by the R510 (or any Ruckus Unleashed AP in the same network).
  • Ouvrir un web browser and enter the IP address of the master AP or http://unleashed.ruckuswireless.com.
  • Connectez-vous avec vos identifiants d'administrateur.

5.2 Configuration du réseau

From the management interface, you can configure various network settings:

  • Gestion du SSID : Create, modify, or delete Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs), including guest networks.
  • Paramètres de sécurité : Configure WPA2/WPA3 encryption, authentication methods, and access controls.
  • VLAN : Assign VLANs to SSIDs for network segmentation.
  • Paramètres de la radio : Adjust channel selection, transmit power, and other radio parameters for optimal performance.

6. Entretien

6.1 mises à jour du micrologiciel

Regularly updating the firmware ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.

  1. Access the Unleashed management interface.
  2. Navigate to the firmware update section (typically under 'Admin & Services' or 'System').
  3. Vérifiez les mises à jour disponibles ou téléchargez manuellement un firmware file downloaded from the official Ruckus support portal.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process. The AP will reboot during this process.

6.2 Nettoyage

To maintain proper airflow and prevent overheating, periodically clean the exterior of the access point.

  • Assurez-vous que l'appareil est éteint avant de le nettoyer.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surfaces.
  • Évitez d’utiliser des nettoyants liquides ou des matériaux abrasifs.
