The Loctite 5188 Gasket Sealant is an anaerobic flange sealant designed for rigid iron, aluminum, and steel flanged mating surfaces. It cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces. This product provides a flexible, solvent-resistant seal that will not tear or degrade. It is ideal for sealing close-fitting joints between rigid metal faces and flanges.

Setup and Surface Preparation

1. Surfaces propres : Ensure all mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and old gasket material. Use a suitable solvent cleaner if necessary.
2. Roughen Surfaces (Optional): For best adhesion, lightly abrade smooth surfaces with an abrasive pad or fine sandpaper, then clean again.

Instructions d'utilisation (Application)

1. Distribuer le produit : Apply a continuous bead of Loctite 5188 to one of the flange faces. Ensure complete coverage around all bolt holes and mating surfaces.
2. Assembler les pièces : Assemble the components immediately after application. Light clamping is recommended to ensure intimate metal-to-metal contact.
3. Temps de séchage :
   • Heure du montage : The product will fixture (become tack-free) in approximately 20 minutes at room temperature (22°C / 72°F).
   • Guérison complète : Full cure is typically achieved within 24 hours.
   • Note: Cure speed can vary depending on the substrate material, bondline gap, and temperature. Active metals like brass or copper will cure faster, while passive substrates like stainless steel may require an activator (e.g., Loctite 7649) for faster cure.
4. Essai: Allow sufficient cure time before subjecting the assembly to operational pressures or temperatures.

• Stockage: Store the product in its original container in a cool, dry location. Optimal storage temperature is between 8°C and 21°C (46°F and 70°F).
