Taking a Rectal Temperature:

1. Ensure the thermometer is clean. You may apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to the tip for easier insertion.
2. Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. The display will show the last reading briefly, then 'Lo' or '---' indicating it's ready.
3. Position your baby on their back with legs raised, or on their stomach.
4. Gently insert the flexible tip into the rectum, approximately 1/2 to 1 inch (1.5 inches maximum immersion depth), until the parent-proof stopper prevents further insertion. Do not force the thermometer.
5. Hold the thermometer in place until it beeps, indicating the reading is complete (approximately 10 seconds).
6. Carefully remove the thermometer and read the temperature displayed on the screen.
7. Press the power button to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

The thermometer automatically stores the last 10 temperature readings. To recall previous readings:

• With the thermometer off, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until 'MEM' appears on the display, followed by the last reading.
• Each subsequent short press of the power button will cycle through the previous readings.
