Thank you for choosing this Icom product. The RS-MS3W is a software application for Windows, designed for using the DV Gateway function of the Icom D-STAR® transceivers. These instructions are made based on using Windows 10. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before using this product.
System Requirements
The following are required to use the RS-MS3W. (As of March 2019)
Operating System
- Microsoft® Windows® 10 (32/64 bit)
- Microsoft® Windows® 8.1 (32/64 bit)
- Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32/64 bit)
USB Port
A USB 1.1 or USB 2.0
NOTE: Before using this software application, you must have your call sign registered to the gateway server that has the RS-RP3C installed. Ask the gateway repeater administrator for details.
Compatible Transceivers and Cables
The following transceivers are compatible with the RS-MS3W. (As of March 2019)
- ID-31A PLUS/ID-31E PLUS
- ID-51A (PLUS2)/ID-51E (PLUS2)
- ID-4100A/ID-4100E
- IC-9700
The OPC-2350LU DATA CABLE is needed to connect the transceiver to the RS-MS3W.

Installation
To install:
- Confirm Windows has completed its startup.
- Log in as the administrator.
- Be sure no other applications are running.
These instructions are based on using Microsoft® Windows® 10.
Step 1: Unzip File
1. Unzip the file downloaded from the Icom website: http://www.icom.co.jp/world/support/download/firm/
Step 2: Run Executable
2. Double click the executable file in the unzipped folder. When "User Account Control" is displayed, click [Yes] to continue.
Step 3: Select Language
3. Select a language, and then click [OK].

Step 4: Proceed with Installation
4. Click [Next >>].

Step 5: Destination Folder
5. Click [Next >>]. To select another destination folder, click [Change...] before clicking [Next >>].

Step 6: Install
6. Click [Install].

Step 7: Finish Installation
7. Click [Finish].

The "RS-MS3W" file is created in the Windows Start menu, and a shortcut icon is created on the desktop. Double click the icon to open the RS-MS3W.
NOTE: To uninstall, use the "Apps & features" in the "System" menu. To get started, click on Start > Settings > System > Apps & features.
Main Screen
The main screen of the RS-MS3W software allows configuration and connection to the DV Gateway. The screen includes several key areas:
Interface Elements
- File Menu (1): Contains an 'Exit' option to close the application.
- Settings Menu (2): Includes 'Com Port' which displays the COM port number for the data communication cable. Clicking the dropdown allows selection of available COM ports. Refer to the data cable's "Installation Guide" on the Icom website for details on checking the COM port number. http://www.icom.co.jp/world/support/download/manual/
- Help Menu (3): Contains an 'About' option that opens an information window displaying the software version number.
- Start Button (4): Click to initiate the connection to the destination.
- Stop Button (5): Click to terminate the connection.

Configuration Fields
The following fields are used to configure the software:
- Gateway Repeater (Server IP/Domain) (y): Enter the RS-RP3C's gateway repeater address or domain name. The address can be up to 64 characters. NOTE: Your call sign must be registered to the gateway server with RS-RP3C installed. Consult the gateway repeater administrator.
- Terminal/AP Call sign (u): Enter the Terminal/AP call sign registered on the RS-RP3C's Personal Information screen. This call sign consists of 8 characters. It typically includes your call sign, a space for the 7th character, and an ID suffix (A-F) for the 8th character. Lowercase letters are automatically converted to uppercase upon clicking [Apply].
- Gateway Type (i): Select the gateway type. Choose "Global" when operating outside of Japan.
- Allowed Call sign (o): This setting restricts call sign access in Access Point mode. When 'Enabled', only stations with assigned call signs can transmit via the internet. 'Disabled' allows any call sign to transmit. When using Terminal mode, select 'Disabled'.
- Allowed Call sign List (!0): Enter call signs permitted to transmit when "Enabled" is selected for "Allowed Call sign". Up to 30 call signs can be added. To add a call sign, enter it and click [Add]. To delete a call sign, select it in the call sign field (!2) and click [Delete].
- Call sign information field (!1): Displays information about call signs transmitted from the PC or received from the Internet.
- Call sign field (!2): Displays the call signs allowed to transmit when "Enabled" is selected for "Allowed Call sign".
- Apply Button (!3): Click to save entered data or settings. The button turns red when changes are made. Changes are not saved until this button is clicked.
