Tapo C400/C401/TC80 Battery-Powered Outdoor Security Camera
Quick Start Guide
1. Charge the Battery
The battery comes partially charged. It is recommended to fully charge the battery before use, which takes about five and a half hours using a 5V 1A USB charger.
2. Set Up the Camera
- Download the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play and log in.
- Open the camera cover and press and hold the On/Off button for about 3 seconds to turn it on.
- Open the Tapo app, tap the '+' button, select your camera model, and follow the app instructions to set up your camera.
Note: Images may differ from actual products.
3. Camera Mounting Tips
- Avoid placing the camera behind glass, as it will obstruct the motion sensor.
- Choose a proper location to avoid frequent false alarms. Avoid pointing the camera directly at swaying trees, vehicles and pedestrians on the road, or street lamps and sunlight.
- Do not place the camera upside down.
- Keep the motion sensor level for best results.
- Mount the camera to the side so that movement goes across the lens' field of view to better trigger motion detection and AI detection.
- For optimal detection performance, mount the camera 7-10 ft (2-3 m) above the ground.
PIR Detection Zone: The detection zone varies with wake-up sensitivity settings. The Field of View (FOV) and PIR detection zone shown are based on the camera being mounted at 7.2 ft (2.2 m).
Note: You can adjust the sensitivity in Camera Settings > Detection > Wake-up Sensitivity.
4. Mounting
- Drill Holes: Stick the mounting template to the desired mounting place. Drill two holes according to the template (∅6 mm / 15/64 in.).
- Unscrew the Base: Unscrew the base from the mounting bracket.
- Secure the Bracket: Insert two anchors into the holes and use the screws to affix the bracket over the anchors.
- Install the Camera: Screw the base onto the bracket. Install the camera on the base, adjust the angle by loosening the base, and secure it by tightening. Ensure the camera is securely attached to the camera bracket by tightening the bottom screw.
