Setup & Use

  1. Power on: Press either side button to turn on the device.
  2. Power off: By default it shuts down after 5 minutes of sleep. To change shutdown behavior, scan the sleep-time setup barcode (or scan the Sleep now barcode).
  3. Initialize/reset: Scan the Initialize Settings barcode to reset to initial settings.
  4. Update version display: Scan the Display version information barcode to show version details.
  5. Set output customization (optional): Use the relevant setup barcodes for prefix/suffix, end character, HID character case, and hide front/rear characters.
  6. Configure Bluetooth (optional): After connecting Bluetooth, scan Change Bluetooth Name, then scan the desired Bluetooth name barcode; after canceling Bluetooth pairing, search again. To switch modes, scan the required Bluetooth mode barcode.
  7. Mounting (optional): Adhere the metal plate to your phone/case, align the M2 slots to the plate, and slide upward until it clicks; to remove, hold the sliding button and slide the scanner downward.

Turn on & Turn off

Turn On:
Press either side button to turn on the device.

Turn Off:
By default, it will shut down after 5minutesofsleep.You can scan the setting code to turn off, or set the required sleep time.

Initialization settings &Versioninformation
To reset the scanner to its initial settings, scanthe“InitializeSettings” barcode below. Scanning the “DisplayVersionInformation” barcode will show the scanner’s versiondetails.

Prefix and suffix setting
Scan the “Prefix setting” or “Suffix setting” barcode, then scan the ADCII code of the desired prefix or suffix character.

Set to hide front or rear characters
Scan the “Hide front character” or “Hide rear character” setup code first, then scan the barcode with the desired number of characters.

Change Bluetooth name

  • Step1: After connecting Bluetooth, scan the “Change Bluetooth Name” barcode.
  • Step2: Scan the barcode for the Bluetooth name you wish to set, such as “Scanner123”. Finally, after canceling the Bluetooth pairing, perform a new Search to find the new Bluetooth nameEffon-M2-Barcode-Reader -fig (9)

Mounting

  1. Attach: Adhere the metal plate with fixing hooks to the back of your phone or phone case.
  2. Align: Position the M2 scanner, aligning its slots with both ends of the metal plate.
  3. Slide & Lock: Slide the M2 upward until you hear a “click,” indicating it is securely locked in place.Effon-M2-Barcode-Reader -fig (15)

Dismounting

  1. Unlock: Push the sliding button at the bottom of the M2 to the left and hold it in position.
  2. Slide Off: While holding the button, slide the M2 downward to remove it from the plate.

Tip:
The metal plate on your phone allows for quick and easy Reinstallation whenever needed.

Troubleshooting

  • Scanner output not as expected (prefix/suffix, hidden characters, end character): Re-check the relevant setup codes and use the corresponding cancel procedure (e.g., scan the Prefix/Suffix setting barcode again to cancel, or scan the Cancel end character barcode).
  • Need to restore default settings: Scan the Initialize Settings barcode to reset the scanner to its initial settings.
  • Bluetooth device name change didn’t take effect: The manual states that after initialization the Bluetooth name reverts to default. Also, after setting a new name, cancel Bluetooth pairing and perform a new search to find the updated Bluetooth name.
  • Need to switch Bluetooth behavior: Scan the desired Bluetooth Mode Setting barcode; the scanner will switch to the corresponding mode.
  • Power/sleep timing confusion: If the device is shutting down sooner than desired, scan the appropriate Sleep Time Setting barcode (e.g., 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or Never sleep).
