FAQs

Is it possible to use this without running the fan?

it is possible to use this heater without running the fan feature!

Besides the heating elements what material holds the heat? Oil?

No oil in this unit, it doesn’t need it because it is always ON. In the ECO setting, it warms the room and then steps down the power to whatever is required to hold the temp you set.

How is the heat being released? And will it dry the air? I suffer from dry eyes and cannot handle heaters that simply blow hot air.

Unfortunately, it does blow some hot air but it’s not too bad. Probably not a great option for your eye condition though. We do have a humidifier in the same room with the heater and it does help a little, but our apartment is very dry.

Is the case plastic or metal? Did it smell when you started using it? Thx!

Case is metal. Very slight odor on initial start. Dissipates in short time. The heater works very well and is very cosmetically appealing compared to some. Wall or floor mounted.

What material is used in this heater that requires a California prop 65 warning?

Proposition 65 aka The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986

Regulates substances officially listed by California as having a 1 in 100,000 chance of causing cancer over a 70-year period or birth defects or other reproductive harm in two ways.

Can it be left on a long period of time? Say to heat a room overnight while I’m away?

while this unit can cycle on and off to maintain a certain set temperature, we do not recommend leaving this unit on for an extended period of time over a period of 24 hours.

Can I use it in a bathroom and can the steam of the hot water damage the heater?

I used mine all last winter in the bathroom and it still looks brand new. I bought it for the bathroom. That is where it stays full-time.

Does the unit itself get hot enough on the outside to burn a child’s hands?

It will get hot enough on the top to make your child cry, but probably not hot enough to actually do much harm.

How much of an increase did you see to your power bill after using this consistently over winter?

I have not had it for the winter months.

What size room does this heater work well in? I am looking at heating a 12 x 15 foot room with good insulation.

I have one unit in a 15 x 25 bonus room and it works great even on the low heat setting. Not sure why other reviews are negative. Obviously, my room is insulated. The heater is quiet and the fan does kick in if you want it to heat up quicker. I have been very happy with the design being discrete.

Is this a three prong, or two pronged outlet? Confusing responses….

An outlet is usually located on the wall of a building that supplies power. This unit in particular (DeLonghi HCX9115E) definitely has the two prong plug.

does this unit plug into a wall outlet or does it have to be hard wired?

This is an electrical unit that must be plugged into a wall outlet.

How much noise does the heater make on the highest setting?

It is extremely quiet. We use it in a small half bath and can’t hear it run at all. Since it is a small area I’m not sure it has ever been on its highest setting.

does it remember the settings if the power goes out?

this unit has memory to retain information in case of a power outage. The unit will not however, automatically turn back on once power is restored.

What is HT?

HT means high temperature on this unit.
