How to Display Compliance Information:
Certification and compliance information for the camera can be viewed on the menu screen. Navigate to the "Offered Set of the (Default) menu", select "Additional Regulations", and confirm your selection.
Regulatory Information:
This device contains license-exempt essentials that comply with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's license-exempt RSS standards. Operation is subject to the following conditions:
- This device may not cause interference.
- This device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
- 3.5GHz and 5GHz bands have restricted indoor operations only.
The available scientific evidence does not show that any health problems are associated with using low power wireless devices. However, there is no definitive proof that these devices will not cause issues in the future. While many studies have not found biological effects, some studies suggest potential biological effects. This device has been tested and found to comply with ISED exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment and relevant RF exposure rules.
About the Battery Pack
CAUTION
- Use the specified unit to recharge the battery pack.
- Do not use the battery pack with equipment other than the specified unit.
- Avoid getting dirt, sand, liquids, or other foreign matter on the terminals.
- Do not touch the plug headrest or vent, or pull on the battery pack.
- Do not disassemble, short-circuit, heat, or throw the battery pack into a fire.
- If electrolyte comes into contact with your hands or clothes, wash it off thoroughly with water.
- If electrolyte comes into contact with your eyes, do not rub them. Rinse eyes thoroughly with water and consult a doctor.
CAUTION
- Replace the battery pack only with the type recommended by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement may lead to equipment malfunction.
- When disposing of batteries, please contact your local authorities or dealer for the correct disposal method.
- Do not heat or expose to flame.
- Do not short-circuit the batteries.
- Do not remove the batteries from the device unless instructed.
- Do not expose to hot air pressure at high altitudes.
- Do not expose to extremely low air pressure, as this may result in explosions or leakage of toxic substances and gases.
Warning
- Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not disassemble, heat above 90 °C (140 °F), or incinerate.
- Always use a genuine Panasonic battery pack (DMR-3402B) or an approved optional accessory.
- Use a Premium High-Speed HDMI micro cable (e.g., Tijab D-Tigre 4 plug) with a length less than 2 inches (0.0 feet).
- Use a stereo microphone cable with a length less than 2 inches (0.0 feet).
- Keep the accessory shoe cover and memory card out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.

Attaching a Shoulder Strap
Follow these steps to attach the shoulder strap to the camera:
- Attach the strap to the camera's strap eyelet.
- Thread the strap through the buckle and secure it.
- Repeat for the other side.
- Ensure the strap is securely fastened to prevent the camera from dropping.
Charging the Battery
- Insert the battery pack into the camera. Ensure it is correctly oriented.
- Connect the camera's USB port to the AC adapter using the USB connection cable.
- Connect the AC adapter to an electrical outlet.
The charging light turns red when charging begins and turns off when charging is complete.
Interchangeable Lens Usage
The Panasonic LUMIX S9 is compliant with the Li-Mount standard of Leica Camera AG.
- Refer to catalogs or mobile resources for information regarding supported lenses.
- High-precision, low-dispersion lenses are recommended for optimal performance.
- Using commercially available accessories that do not comply with the Li-Mount standard may lead to operation failure or malfunction of the camera. If failure or malfunction occurs due to such causes, the warranty may be voided.
- Lens mounts (30 mm) are not compatible with certain silicon or malfunction mounts.
How to Extend/Retract the Lens (When the Interchangeable Lens (S-R1840) is Attached)
To Extend the Lens: Rotate the zoom ring in the direction of arrow (A) from position (B) (18 mm to 40 mm) to extend the lens. Images cannot be recorded if the lens barrel is retracted.
To Retract the Lens: Rotate the zoom ring in the direction of arrow (2) from position (A) to retract the lens. You will feel a click at the 18 mm position. Continue rotating to position (A). If you are not recording images, it is recommended that you retract the lens.
Note: Remove the lens or body cap only when the lens barrel is retracted. A message will be displayed if the lens barrel is retracted and recording is attempted; extend the zoom ring to extend it.
Taking Pictures
- Rotate the mode dial to select the desired recording mode (e.g., 24QP, 2AJ, 3Q, 90).
- Press the shutter button halfway (gently) to focus.
- Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
Recording Videos
- Rotate the mode dial to select the recording mode.
- Press the video rec. button to start recording.
- Press the video rec. button again to end recording.
Playing Back Images
Images can be played back using the playback controls on the camera.

- Camera Lens: Handle the camera lens with care.

- Copyright: When using copyrighted material, you may need permission from the copyright holder.
- Caution with Strong Light Beams: Do not allow strong light beams, such as laser lights, to enter the lens. These can destroy the image sensor and damage the camera.
